OK, I will admit that this cd did take a few listens for me to really appreciate it. songs bout death, blood, dying, killing...west coast version of MCR...a few ok songs but the lyrical content sounds redundant a few times..."Nightmare" is said in pretty much every song...i bought a used promo copy...i suggest the Victory records dvd "Mosh" because its $8, cd & dvd...24 music videos, 21 songs on the cd...pretty good at a great price

OK, I will admit that this cd did take a few listens for me to really appreciate it. I contemplated buying it after hearing Last Sunrise on their purevolume, but when I heard Knife Blood Nightmare I was hooked. I listened to it constantly. I did buy this cd with no great expectations based partially on the reviews I saw here. After first popping it into my cd player I still wasn't impressed, but I found myself wanting to listen to it over and over again, rotating it and Bayside. And let me tell you, I am very impressed. Sure it's not the most original, mindblowing music, but then again, what is nowadays? They have great potential and should not be played off as just another MCR clone. The musicianship showcased on Nightmare Anatomy is much more than mediocre and I've got to ask: Does anyone else love the screams on this album as much as I do? OK, I like/love every song on here but highest points include Knife Blood Nightmare, Goodbye We're Falling Fast, and See You In Hell... The lower points would have to be, um, well none really; the rest are all pretty good, too. So, you should definately buy this cd and even though it may take a few listens to get into, you will find it to be hell of a cd player occupier, assuming that that makes sense...

4.0 out of 5 stars Give them a chance, May 21, 2006
This review is from: Nightmare Anatomy (Bonus Dvd) (Audio CD)
I have to admit, I hated them when I first saw them. I thought they were spoiled kids doing the teen angst thing and at 34, I wasn't in the mood for it. Then I saw them again in LV and met them and realized that they actually have some catchy songs, and incredible stage presence. No, this isn't an album that is going to change the world but the music is catchy, wiL's stage persona is fantastic (how the heck has he not knocked someone out with his mic yet?!?) and we all have to bear in mind that this is a bunch of kids that literally just finished high school.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of Seattle's Finest., May 20, 2006

Hollywood "E." (Seattle, Washington) - See all my reviews

I was pleasantly surprised when I first listened to this album in it's entirety. The vocals, in my opinion, are amazing. You can feel the hurt and feeling that wiL was put into the lyrics. The shredding an throbbing mass, in the good way, adds to the intensity of each song. It's definetly isn't one for mom, which made me love it even more. The language, which is more frequent in some songs than others, makes this album one for a teenage audience. This is one of the best bands I've heard in a while, it's very enlightening. I'd recommend this for anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars The pointless ramblings of my mind on modern music, June 13, 2006
This review is from: Nightmare Anatomy (Bonus Dvd) (Audio CD)
I recentley saw the Aiden and HIM concert in Chicago. I had loved the band HIM for two years and just couldn't wait. Althought my teenage heart did beat for Ville Valo, Aiden stole the show. The music cranked and the band had thousands of people cramming in so close together, all sweating buckets, but happy doing so. I had heard the singles "Die Romantic" and "The Last Sunrise", but they weren't my favorites on the cd. I personally liked "Goodbye Were Falling Fast" and can't wait to see a video for it. All the same, Aiden seems to have jumped on the "slit your wrists and die in the arms of your lover" bandwagon, and I enjoy every moment of it. The screaming and screaching with beautifully dark lyrics puts me to bed every night. I am also very glad I met the band before listening to the cd. I got to talk to wiL for a couple of minutes, honestley the nicest man I have EVER met, and he talked to me about the album and life in general. ALl of those lyrics are written form their hearts, they pour their souls into their work and give so much for their fans. I would have a hard time giving this cd anything other than a five.

Total My Chemical Romance knock off band. These guys are almost as bad as Atreyu... I'm serious. Get an AFI or T.S.O.L. or a Misfits album or something... Not this!

1.0 out of 5 stars MUST READ TO UNDERSTAND, October 7, 2005
This review is from: Nightmare Anatomy (Bonus Dvd) (Audio CD)
Before everyone writes this review off because I gave this trite piece of garbage 1 star, you must read the rest of this review because there are absolutely legitimate reasons why this band is absolutely awful and could possibly be the worst record to come the entire year (well...it's either this, Fight Paris, or Bedlight For Blueeyes...take your pick).

Aiden is basically that band that "bursts" onto the scene hanging on to the coattails of a plethora of other bands who are doing the exact same thing and doing it way better, which is ironic because quite frankly, the type of music that Aiden is peddling to an impressionable audience isn't even that good to begin with--both from a songwriting standpoint and a technical standpoint.

Aiden is also the type of band that has to create a laughable and totally ridiculous image to help them sell records--this may work on prepubescent teenage girls, but not on me and not on the rest of the people who are watching independent music crumble because of these "fashioncore scenesters." And when I say image, were talking girl pants, tight button up shirts, combover haircuts, and more eyeliner than your sister wears. It's absolutely awful.

Now, with the rising success of My Chemical Romance you had to figure it was only going to be a matter of time when some awful knockoff hit the national scene and Tony Brummel, being the genius record label president that he is (I'll give him that much--Victory makes an annual 15-20 million a year which basically means the only thing that sets this label apart from the majors is their not public on the stockmarket!) went and found himself his very own My Chemical Romance, complete with image, punk influenced post-hardcore sound, and all. The brilliance in all this is not only will the MCR groupies eat this album for breakfast but so will the Atreyu kids and the like because it has just enough of an edge and few generic breakdowns to get those "br00tal hardcore dancers" all excited.

But in the end, what your left with is a horrible album that will hit the .99 cent bargain bin at your local indie store because the trend will have died off and all the "scenesters" will have moved on to the next big thing (god knows what). Aiden is the type of band that is a flash in the pan. Here one day, gone the next--quick money in Victory's pocket. The question is where do you stand? Are you going to continue to follow the cattle in the herd and buy this garbage or you going to stand up and demand that independent music returns to the way it use to be? I'll let you decide, just remember, this will be the record you hide when your friends come over next year.

1.0 out of 5 stars A True Review..., March 22, 2006
This review is from: Nightmare Anatomy (Bonus Dvd) (Audio CD)
Last night I went a 30 Seconds to Mars Concert, and opening for 30 Seconds to Mars were a number of other bands, one of them being Aiden. I was very excited to see how this band was, because most of the people around me were praising the band, making them even more alluring. Soon enough I was privy to the exalted band that was Aiden, but they certainly were not all they had been built up to be. Constant, blaring power chords, off-key screaming and "singing," and constant cursing seemed to be what this band was all about. At one point the lead singer stopped to tell us a story about how his friend committed suicide when she was 14, and that we all need to come together to be one huge, loving family. Ten minutes later, he held up his middle finger, yelled the F-word about twenty times and commanded us to form a pit of death and kill each other. Oh, ok... great! The hubris of the entire band was very irritating as well. One of the guitar players stepped out front of all of the other members of the band, slouched over, eyes glued to the fret board, and attempted a tapping "guitar solo." Not only was it awful, but only the most naiveté need to look at their instruments when they play! Their songs were terrible, and the band got off time on many occasions. Aiden is just another typical screamo band that is only out there to make money. Sorry for anyone who adores this band, but this is NOT music... Pick up a guitar and take lessons for three months and you could be in this band. The only appropriate thing about this band is that their album title; bands like these are the ones that constantly make a nightmare of the American music scene. Try something new! Start something revolutionary, actually try and master and instrument. Listen to music for the sake of music, not for slitting wrists, crying, and vulgarity.
