Nightmare Before Christmas [Blu-ray]

Since there are a number of reviews listed on previous releases of this movie which describe the storyline of The Nightmare Before Christmas, I will just mention that I saw it when it was originally released in the movie theaters and have been a fan ever since. After being unable to find out sufficient details about the technical specs of this 2010 release on the Amazon and Disney websites, I decided to find out the information by visiting a "Big Box" store so that I could physically look at the Blu-ray/DVD cover. This version contains one Blu-ray disk and one DVD disk. The Blu-ray specs listed on the box are 1080p, with a 1:66:1 aspect ratio. The DVD specs are shown as "original theatrical format" with a 1:66:1 aspect ratio. If you do not already own a Blu-ray player, this version will work best.

After considering this information, I decided to order the Blu-ray + Digital (2008 release) from Amazon since I did not have any use for another standard DVD in my collection, and the Blu-ray disk has the same aspect ratio of 1:66:1. The Nightmare Before Christmas [Blu-ray] + Digital Copy The picture quality on this Blu-ray shows a vast improvement over the DVD Special Edition released in 2000.

For anyone who is a fan of this movie and is considering purchasing a Blu-ray version, I would tell them that it is definitely worth the upgrade.

Getting a blu ray and a dvd at this price for an amazing movie is awesome ... very satisfied with the combination!

Tim Burton's Halloween masterpiece comes alive in Blu-ray! This has become one of the family's favorite DVDs to watch - whatever time of the year. If you have a Blu-ray player and appropriate TV, you will love the sharp detail that this disc will bring to you. I'm glad that we waited for the Blu-ray edition.

At first I gave this DVD a 3 star rating, I think it deserves 4. It's a very entertaining movie but rather cheap packaging (DVD on demand). The packaging is not 3D like the version bought at Hasting, Best Buy, etc. The movie itself is good, I liked it and the quality is pure. The whole packaging thing really gets to me though. In the near future I will be buying the 2 disc version from either Hastings or Best Buy. The Film: 9/10 - Packaging: 2/10.

'The Nightmare Before Christmas' is one of those wonderfully atmospheric films that has easily stood the test of time. It is as delightful and quirky now as when it was initially released. The stop-motion animation is superb and the dark Tim Burton Characters are perfect for the story. Danny Elfman provided the music and songs for this film and they stick in your head at first listen and you can't help but grin and sing along with subsequent viewings. The story is unique and fun and although it has a very dark turn to it, it is still fine viewing for children, although I tend to feel adults may appreciate it more. This is one film I watch annually (yes, at Christmas time!) as a matter of tradition now and I love it every time. A modern classic, and rightly so, and if you haven't seen this film you're missing out on a rare treat. Snap it up quick and enter it's weird and wonderful world.

The Nightmare Before Christmas is exquisite on Blu-ray. It looks so much better than a regular dvd, my daughter loves watching this movie.

I was very happy with my purchase from Amazon. I love this movie and it was in great shape! It's a classic that everyone should take the time to watch!

I saw this movie when I was little during its theatrical release-it was creepy and I got scared. A recent trip to WDW at Halloween ignited my interest in this movie again, and I believe it is one of the best films Disney ever made. The sets are incredibly detailed, each character is an individual, the voices are fantastic and the plot is very original. More than anything-I love the music. Danny Elfman not only wrote the score, but is also the singing voice for The Pumpkin King himself-Jack Skellington.

There are plenty of special features on the DVD. I enjoyed hearing the poem that Tim Burton wrote after seeing window displays switched from Halloween to Christmas, the basis for the Nightmare Before Christmas. There is also "behind the scenes" footage (from almost 20 years ago now) that shows the sets, the heads for the different characters and the intricate way each scene had to be set up and filmed.

While I had a hard time watching it as a kid-there is nothing ridiculously scary or inappropriate about this film. There are very few good family Halloween films out there. When the time comes-I hope to watch this with my kids every Halloween as a kick-off for the Christmas season.

$22.00 Is an excellent price for this DVD/Blu-Ray, I haven't found anything close in any store.

Great movie for children and adults. A classic that belongs in any movie collection. Looks 10x's better on bluray then regular dvd. Amazing clarity.
