This chilling double feature includes the famous 1920 version of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" starring the great John Barrymore and the 1965 Italian horror classic "Nightmare Castle" starring sexy scream queen Barbara Steele. In "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde", Barrymore plays a handsome and kindly doctor who concocts a strange and powerful potion that enables him to unleash his "other" self, his beastly and evil side. Unfortunately, this side threatens to completely take over. This classic silent version of the much-filmed tale is highly entertaining and can hold its own against the lavish Fredric March and Spencer Tracy remakes. There are many different prints of this particular version available on video with various different running times. This 82-minute print is about the longest one available and is great quality. Completing this chilling double feature is the Gothic horror classic "Nightmare Castle" starring beautiful and sexy '60's Scream Queen Barbara Steele in a dual role. First, Steele is an unfaithful wife caught "in the act" with her robust lover by her deranged scientist husband(Paul Muller). After Muller exacts his bloody revenge, he learns that his wife left her considerable fortune to her mentally-unstable sister(Steele again, this time in a blonde wig). He then marries the girl and plans to finish off what is left of her sanity so he can claim the family fortune. But, something truly terrifying and unexpected happens before he can carry out his mad plan. Steele fans will definitely want to add this one to their collection as it is not only one of her best films, but it is also very rare and very hard-to-find.
