4.0 out of 5 stars pretty cool/eerie music
This is the "Score" for the movie.

Craig Safan creates some pretty cool/eerie music for this film.

If you are looking for the actual songs that were in the movie, you'll have to find the "Soundtrack" used since it is now out of print. It had songs from Blondie, Vinnie Vincent Invasion and Go West among others.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too many scores, no music soundtracks
I give 3 stars ONLY because there is a lack of the original music soundtrack. Like many NOES fans, I am one of those who really miss the ability to have the MUSIC soundtracks for 4,5,and 6. All that seems to be left are the original SCORE soundtracks. Luckily I have picked up NOES 4 used, and I may soon get my hands on NOES 5.

For those who keep asking what...

4.0 out of 5 stars pretty cool/eerie music, March 9, 2002

This review is from: A Nightmare On Elm Street 4: The Dream Master [Score] (Audio CD)

Sadly, that "soundtrack" is missing some of the best songs from the movie: "I Want Your (Hands On Me)" by Sinead O'Connor played during the weight lifting scene and the start of the end credits; "Nightmare" by Tuesday Knight (who played Kristen)played during the opening credits; "Fatal Charm" by Billy Idol which played during the waterbed scene; Anything Anything (I'll Give You)" by Dramarama played when Rick practices his karate in the garage, then again when Alice discovers she now has this power and "Are Your Ready For Freddy" by The Fat Boys played during the second part of the end credits.

Fortunately, these songs are all available on the actual artists' albums (available on amazon.com). Thank God for CD burners. I can now make my own personal "Nightmare 4" soundtrack.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Soundtrack is a winner, but not as good as music sntrk, February 19, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: A Nightmare On Elm Street 4: The Dream Master [Score] (Audio CD)
This review's coming from a diehard NIGHTMARE fan. I've never heard this soundtrack, but as I read the track listings, I can recall each scene from the movie. The best thing to come from this movie is the music soundtrack, which is - as far as I know - out of print. With songs like Love Kills (Vinnie Vincent), Back to the Wall (Divinyls), and Rip Her to Shreds (Blondie), it's a must have. Unfortunately I only have the cassette, am searching long and hard for the cd. As a whole though, NIGHTMARE 4 is one of my favorites among the series, and anything you can get associated with it will be a good choice.

For those who keep asking what the song is that first Alice's brother listens to during his karate practice and later when Alice prepares to fight Freddy, it's called "Anything, Anything" and it's by a group named Dramarama. I know this helps, as I used to search for it, too.

3.0 out of 5 stars There are some tracks missing here... Here's a list... OST is a little disapointing, coming from a "Nightmare" -fan standpoint.., May 13, 2010
I'm not sure why there are several tracks from the film that are not on this version of the soundtrack, but there's no other version available that I can find. The music on the soundtrack itself has a few good songs on it, a few with just a few good parts, and some songs that flat out aren't any good, but the nostalgia they induce is fun for fans of the film series. Here's the missing tracks if you want to try to find them -

1.) Tuesday Knight - "Nightmare" (from opening credits, performed by Tuesday Knight, who plays Kristen in the movie.)
2.) Dramarama - "Anything"
3.) Billy Idol - "Fatal Charm"
4.) Sinead O'Conner - "I Want Your Hands On Me"
5.) The Fat Boys - "Are You Ready For Freddy?"

So, my review of three stars is based on the fact that many of these omitted tracks are from crucial parts of the movie, from a music standpoint. I checked this soundtrack out because I'm a big "Nightmare On Elm Street" series fan. I found that while it was fun being musically nostalgic, the songs are really dated. Some of them are just, ehh... It would be better if you could get a cheap version of this, but being that it's out of print, all copies that are floating around are considered valuable. So, be cautious in buying this product, at least while it's at this price. You may find yourself a little disappointed, even though the soundtrack does have some cool highlights. 3 stars.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nightmare 4: the musik!, August 28, 2001
This review is from: A Nightmare On Elm Street 4: The Dream Master [Score] (Audio CD)
*The title song is by Tuesday Knight, its called 'nightmare' (running from this nightmare). AHHH I can picture the scenes to the scores, cool use of instruments, and the music is done by Craig Safan who did the soundtrack to the wonderful 'Fade to Black'.

4.0 out of 5 stars CHRYSALIS, OR UNIVERSAL, OR WHOEVER -- PLEASE REMASTER AND REPRINT THIS SOUNDTRACK!!!, November 22, 2010
This KILLER (pun intended) soundtrack SO needs to be remastered, repackaged (w/ lyrics, liner notes, photos, etc.), and reprinted for all to enjoy again, and, for the first time. Funny, I was in the theaters to see this movie in 1988, and I didn't realize how strong and how great the musical soundtrack was. Probably because, in the 1980s, good music wasn't necessarily an exotic thing to experience, as opposed to today. From what I understand, a lot of artists on this soundtrack were just getting their breaks, so this is kind of a collector's item. I can't believe that what with all the new Nightmare on Elm Street buzz, New Line, Chrysalis (which exists only in name now since its long-ago demise in the late 1980s), and now Universal Records (which I now believe is the hub for Chrysalis' catalog) haven't jumped on this. I never owned this soundtrack, though I remember the popularity of it when it was in the stores and on the charts, and now I regret it. But, in this "digital age" it should be pretty easy to print 5,000 units of a Special Edition, combining all of the songs featured in the film, as well as highlights from the Safan score.

If anyone knows how to get the ball rolling on this reprinting, please let us know. What an experience it will be to sit back and hear a Classic music soundtrack from the starting sunset of the '80s. And, one that rather remarkably stands up well to the sonic beginnings of the 21st century. Who would have thought that we'd be more so looking backwards than forwards for inspiration in the 2000s?

5.0 out of 5 stars In search of.., March 8, 2008
This review is from: A Nightmare On Elm Street 4: The Dream Master [Score] (Audio CD)
Aside from buying this CD, which the price for just 4 songs seems outrageous especially since it's out of my price range, is there any other way to get the song "Alice Fights Freddy" cause I'm dying to add it to my collection. Any advice would be nice.
