3.0 out of 5 stars Campfire tales
My mom got me this book cause it made her think of me, she thought the author sounded familar. LOL he should I since as a teen I would only read R.L. Stine or Christopher Pike.

So on to the book of short stories. I enjoyed it, it brought back good memeories of reading as a teen. I think I will take this on my next camping trip and use it to read to others...

5.0 out of 5 stars R.L. Stine is the Coolest!!!!, February 15, 2006
This review is from: Nightmare Hour: Time for Terror (Paperback)
R.L. Stine is one of the best authers that i have had the pleasure of reading. Even though this book is for kids, i am still reading it at the age of 16. i still get goosebumps from reading his stories.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nightmare Hour, October 27, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Nightmare Hour: Time for Terror (Paperback)
Genre: Scary

Three Sentence summary: There were a lot of character but the main ones were Pumkin head, The black mask, and The ghostly lady. The problem was that they were scaring people and being thiefs. The last time they were seen was in a dark cemetary.

What I liked most about the book: I liked the stories in it because they felt real.

What I didn't like and why: I did not like the ending of some stories because they were not that good.

My favorite character and why: My favorite character were the allien bugs because they were bad and thiefs.

The scene, line,or passage that meant something to me and why (page#): "He was a very good friend". Because it tells you there are good friends and bad friends and you have to appreciate the good ones. Page.121

What I would say about this book to someone else: I would say that this book is worth reading because it keeps you in suspense, and it will scare you.

One question i have after reading this book: How does R.L Stines come up with this book.

My strongest reason for recommending this book: It's a good, mysterious book that will scare your pants off.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Book Cover Ever Published, October 11, 2004

Normally it doesn't matter what version of a book you buy as the words are all the same inside and the cover is insignificant. Not so with Nightmare Hour as the cover for this book is the reason I recommend purchasing it. The eyes of the creature on the front of the hard cover edition where the numerals of a clock surround the face are sensational and change colour when the light reflects at different angles, giving the book a pure evil characteristic. When you walk past it the eyes light up or go red. It is truly amazing and seriously forget the contents inside, the effect is so good I recommend purchasing this book for the cover alone. If the version you are buying does not have this face with eyes, look for this version, even if it is more expensive as it is more than worth it.

The actual stories inside aren't the most realistic or graphic of horror stories, they are written at a level similar to a children's cartoon where magic happens and children are always the heroes and the central characters of the stories. Most stories are fairly predictable but all are enjoyable. There are ten stories in all, each of differing quality. Subjects covered include vengeance for a pumpkin farmer on Halloween vandals, witches, medieval sorcerers, clowns, ghosts, clairvoyant masks, werewolves, aliens and hospital visits. As I said before the cover is the main thing you must ensure you get upon purchasing this book. It alone is worth the five stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Joshua Solly's review on Nightmare hour, April 19, 2002
A Kid's Review
Nightmare hour was a really good book to read. and it made me read the whole of the book because i don't read often, but that book i had to read the whole book from the beginning to the end.
The bad thing about the book was, it made me have nightmares. So the title was true because it happened at nightmare hour. The good thing was it made me read it over and over again. ...I gave it 5 stars because it is good and it should be for 10 years and over.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good - Chilling, July 13, 2001
This short stories in this book are very well written, as far as R.L. Stine goes. One of my favorites was "I'm Not Martin", because I've always had fears of hospitals, and staying overnight. Other titles are: Alien Candy, Nightmare Inn, I'm Not Martin, and 7 more! I think this book is suitable for ages: 8 and up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Supernatural tales, November 4, 2000

Pumpkins, werewolves, witches... nothing new, but you've never read anything like this. Munch some alien candy, stare down a ghost, and endure a horrific hospital stay. If short and scary creeps you out, these 10 tales of terror won't disappoint.

This was a terrifyingly awesome collection of some of R.L.Stine's best and scariest short stories. I especially liked "Pumpkinhead" and "I'm Not Martin." They were really creepy. After reading this book at night I was too afraid to get up and use the restroom. Just kidding.
