5.0 out of 5 stars A Tangled Piece of Magic......
A wonderful addition to any DVD collection. R.L. Stine, the man behind the "Goosebumps" legacy, has returned with this collection of tales from his "The Nightmare Room" series. The disc is a highly enjoyable one and is full of tricks and treats for all ages. 4 episodes are featured on this disc. In "My Name is Evil" Morgan visits a carnival with friends and is told he...

3.0 out of 5 stars The Nightmare room: scareful what you wish for
Reese out of malcolm in the middle gives a good performance( a suttle difference from his character on the show.) Its entertaining, enough to keep you awake. One of the better R.L. Stine screenings. Stars Justin Berfield from Malcolm in the Middle and 'Sting' from WCW wrestling.

In "My Name is Evil" Morgan visits a carnival with friends and is told he is `evil' by a gypsy. Bad things start to happen, but the question is are they a fluke, or is the prediction true? In "Scareful What You Wish For" Dylan is followed around by Buddy, his supposed `best friend.' He belives that it is a childhood toy come to life. Will Dylan be able to stop Buddy's attacks, is he crazy or will he become just another victim? In "Tangled Web" Josh is a compulsive liar who uses words to get out of everything. But when a supply teacher shows up and believes his lie, things get interesting. Josh's lies begin to come true! Will Josh be able to escape the trouble he put himself in or will he become a casuality of his own words? Lastly in "Fear Games" teens are selected to take part in `The Fear Games.' Upon arrival at Tranquility Island April is told of a witch that inhibits it. During the games she sees that the witch legend may indeed be true. Will she and the others be able to escape reality tv alive? The stories each feature familiar faces from current televison....Tippy Hedren, Ashley Peldon (Catlin's Way/Thunder Alley), Besty Randle (Boy Meets World), David Carradine, Justin Berfield (Malcolm In The Middle) + the twins from "Big Daddy" and a few others. The acting is superb and each episode is excellently done. In terms of special features, there are a few. With "The Nightmare is Yours: The Haunted Cave" you have an interactive `Choose Your Own Adventure' type of story in which you decide your very fate. "Do You Dare?" is a trivia feature about our darkest nightmares. "The Nightmare Files" is an interview with R.L. Stine himself. Lastly, there is a "Trailers" feature that showcases other Warner Brothers titles that are available. I highly recommend this DVD as it provides a wide variety of entertainment for people of all ages. Do you dare attempt to venture into "The Nightmare Room?" :-)

4.0 out of 5 stars TWILIGHT ZONE for kids, March 23, 2003

This is the TWILIGHT ZONE for kids... with young teens menaced by the supernatural...though usually with a not-so-subtle moral to the story. MY NAME IS EVIL is the best of this bunch...though they are all good, intelligent fun for the 16 and younger set.

There are actually 3 movies in this dvd. The one with the "doll" really scares you. It makes you look again at any dolls you may have in your room. A great tale that will leave you questioning whether you should have any dolls in your home. The other two are also terrific. All three movies have strange twists near the end. It's best to watch them at night for the great fear factor. No blood or gore so they're very suitable for everyone except the weak of heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars Above average kid horror, but beware of "Scareful What You Wish For", October 7, 2009

I have an 8 y/o girl and a 6 y/o boy and they love scary movies. They often watch Goosebumps, Ghost Trackers, the Harry Potter movies, Monster House movie, etc. I could tell right away when I put in this Nightmare Room dvd and the first story started that it was quite a bit edgier than Goosebumps. After the first story about the evil kid was over, they responded with comments like "this is so cool." However, after the second story was over, "Scareful What You Wish For," about a doll that comes to life, they were not very happy. They couldn't get to sleep and they wouldn't sleep with their stuffed animals. My daughter kept talking about being afraid of her "my twinn" doll. Even when they realized that the doll was played by Dylan and Cole Sprouse (Zack and Cody) when they were wee little, they still felt that the story was too creepy. From my experience I would only recommend this dvd to young teens and up.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great teenage version of The Twilight Zone, June 17, 2011
I admit that at first I was expecting something half-assed & lame. But surprisingly, despite that these are teenager stories, are actually well written and entertaining. The teenage drama isn't over done and keeps your interest, even if you're like me and usually skip teenager-type movies & shows. Compared to the classic Twilight Zone shows, this comes very close. Only certain things seem a tad overdone, but that's just me being a critic. Don't pass this up. If anything, Redbox this first. You won't be disappointed!

Bought this for grandson. He really loves it. Money well spent. He can watch it over and over and never get tired of it. It is ok for adults to watch maybe twice. Kids will want to see it more. It will make any goosebumps fan happy. Get it for the child in your life and see them happy.
