Pretty good...,

This review is from: The Nightmares on Elm Street: A Novel (Contains "Part 4: The Dream Master" and "Part 5: The Dream Child") (Paperback)
If you are expecting these to be exact copies of the movies, don't bet on it. NOES 4 has a few changes in it, for example, Rick's Kung Fu death is different.NOES 5 is completely different from the movie. Same plot, different way of looking at it. Still a very good novelization in my personal opinion!

A NEW BATCH OF NIGHMARES,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Nightmares on Elm Street: A Novel (Contains "Part 4: The Dream Master" and "Part 5: The Dream Child") (Paperback)
I was surprised by how good this book was.In 4: A young girl finds herself gaining the skills of her friends as they are offed by Freddy. In 5: The main from the fourth finds herself caught in dreams as she is awake. She discovers that Freddy's attempt to take over her unborn child is the cause of this. Both novels were quick, simple, and surprisingly suspenseful reads. The main character was sypathetic as she discovered that her friends are dying because of her ability to join others in dreams. So, every time she sleeps, Freddy pulls one of her friends into the dream with her and forces her to watch as they die. Freddy fans will find this an enjoyable read, as will others. The writting is obviously intended for a teenage audience. This is surprising because of the inclusion of swearing in the novel. Heck, the first paragraph of part 5 details a sex scene between two teenagers. This is not too bad, though, so I will still recomend this read to anyone who can find the book.

This book is a very good and suspenseful short version of parts 4 & 5, it's different than what's in the movies, like Rick's death (which I liked here and wish they would've done in the film, instead we got a crappy death of a good character, the book redeems it in my opinion, even the guy who played Rick thought it was better than the one they used) anyway, this book has pics from the films, a must read for fans of that ol' crispy psycho in the Christmas sweater. Once you read this book, you'll probably go and watch the movies...or at least I'm sure I will.-J |
