5.0 out of 5 stars Hooked on this CD, January 3, 2007

I got into these guys after hearing that they are planning on doing a joint cd with Death By Stereo (one of my fav. bands). This cd is catchy as hell. I haven't been able to stop listening to it since I bought it. All of the songs are good, but the stand outs are Pray For Me, Black Rain, Sonora, and Bombs Over Brooklyn. Although they aren't that impressive musically, they have a definate appeal if you want to listen to cool punk metal. The lead singer has a voice like the lead singer of AFI, but not as annoying and without the range. The lyrics are the typical emo/political that most punk metal guys dwell on. If I had to compare this band to any others, I'd say it is a mix between AFI and Death By Stereo...in a good way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gratifying punk rock experience, April 27, 2006
This review is from: Nightmerica (Audio CD)
The Good

"Bombs over Brooklyn" explores how the government is trying to take over our lives. It's set to a driving punk backbeat with lots of angst filled vocals. "When We Fall" travels at frantic pace as it inspires you to carry on after defeat. "Lottery" has sort-of a David Bowie meets Billy Idol feel to it, with its spoken word vocals and powerful chorus. Meaty bass lines run rampant over darkened themes of "Black Rain." The anthemic "Voice of Change" is very short, but cuts to the quick. "Numb" is another track that hits you at break-neck speed with pounding drums and shout-along vocals. "Caught in a Trap" will draw you in with its infectious riffs and catchy chorus.

The Bad

Nothing notable

The Verdict

I have only recently started to discover the current punk rock scene. There's some stuff that I really like, and other stuff I can do without. Love Equals Death really caught my ear with their unique take on the genre. The darker, creepier tones on Nightmerica only make for a more gratifying punk rock experience.

these guys are a great band and this is a great album. this band reminds me of fat wreck chords style pop-punk mixed with afi and the misfits. the only reason i gave it four stars (i would have given it 4 1/2 stars if i could) is because i wish there were more songs on the album but the ones that are on there are really good though. i'm hoping we get to hear alot more from this band....

This band is a great fun punk band that reminds me of old school AFI. I really enjoyed it.
