outstanding mood album,

I hardly ever listen to "soft" music, and pretty much gave up on jazz some years ago. But I love albums that present an ambience - the kind you can listen to 10 times in a row - and this one is in that category. Fluid sax & vocals, great piano - I can only hope these guys are planning to put out another one. I also highly recommend "To the Heart" - produced 20 years earlier!

This is a lovely album with mature, mesmerizing male vocals. Several tracks stand out, especially Skyline and Don't Go. I produce a late night smooth music show in Alaska, and find this CD always gets noticed when I play it....solstice, shine on!!

some of the tracks on this disc come from an earlier record "hot nights" by jon mark. This record is clearly underrated, and some the sax work is the best Johnny Almond every did. It a record that you need to hear more than one time to really enjoy it. Sadly this year Johnny Almond announced he had cancer. There was a " last concert" called" Johnny Almonds big bash" with a good story on Johhny in the San Jose Mercurry news, google johhny almonds big bash to read. This group made of great records. One of the greatest is very rare and was produced on cd in germany from line records called "tuesday in New york". It is sort of the holly grail among mark-almond collectors and is one the greatest unrecoqinzed classics of all time, if you can track that down, along with the remasted first record here on amazon, and then buy this one....well you will see how the group progressed how it was. I have all of the mark-almonds and would rate them as follows 1-mark-almond 1....it set the standard and hit it out of the park, 2 Tuesday in new york....the use of a black american church choir and the greatest duet song-man-woman highlight this important record. followed by all the rest. Its a great group and a great journey...thru jazz, pop, ballad.........
