2.0 out of 5 stars A promising Start Not followed through, January 15, 2008
This review is from: Nightpeople (Paperback)
The setting is quite compelling and does have an Australianness to it which is unmistakable. However Eaton's narrative fails to do the background justice.

After reading seven chapters I've given up on this book. It started strong and then meandered for much too long without anything significant happening. Browsing forward I see that the main character is about to get herself into trouble in chapter eight but it is too little too late. It's going back to the Library.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great SFiction, with a difference, January 15, 2006
This review is from: Nightpeople (Paperback)
This narrative wonderfully creates a firmly realised post-apocolyptic world, elliptically drawing on Australian geography/politics for something different. Characters/situation/plot are interesting/satisfying. This first volume of the prospective trilogy is both complete in itself and great teaser for the next volume. A fine read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, June 9, 2009

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is not fast paced but instead allows you to soak up the story and the world. There are many questions that the author is not quick to provide answers to, giving you plenty to ponder in between readings. I am now eagerly awaiting the second book "Skyall".
