5.0 out of 5 stars Great Listening Music
This album is a collection of diverse instrumental arrangements whose fluid lyricism is aptly geared towards a mainstream listening audience. The music spans and integrates many styles of (primarily Latin) music though approached via the perspective of Flamenco guitar. 1.0 out of 5 stars An Artist in Need of an Identity.
I, as many others watched and was entertained by the PBS special. The problem with Benise is that he wants to be a lot of things at the same time and he does not succeed. His music is all over the place, Cuban, Brazilian, Pop, there is no defined stile.

He is being sold as a flamenco musician, now THAT is an aberration, (I'm from Spain, so I know what I'm...

This review is from: Nights of Fire! (Audio CD)
This album is a collection of diverse instrumental arrangements whose fluid lyricism is aptly geared towards a mainstream listening audience. The music spans and integrates many styles of (primarily Latin) music though approached via the perspective of Flamenco guitar. The music is highly accessible and lyrical which makes it suitable for a general audience and serves as a great introduction to World Music for listeners coming from rock and pop music backgrounds who want to expand their listening experience into new territories. The diversity of rhythms, styles and influence on this album also gives this music a sophistication that will be of interest to practicing musicians and composers. The music is very enjoyable and perfect for entertaining in an upbeat yet relaxing environment. Nights of Fire offers a satisfying depth that grows on the listener on each successive listening offering sustainable enjoyment with repeated exposure.

5.0 out of 5 stars NIGHTS OF FIRE, June 8, 2006

Roni Benise takes the listener on a romantic and spectacular journey of song and dance.

From the first song "Fuego", the listener is drawn in with the rhythm and passion of Mr. Benise's Spanish Guitar.

The Cuban inspired song "Salsa, Salsa" is filled with energy and the listener is instantly transported to Cuba.

The song "Mi Amor" is a deep, passionate piece of music which one can feel with the heart.

Every song on this CD moves the listener.

This CD is a must have for anyone's collection.

Mr. Benise has proven he has talent and I definitely await future releases.

Highly recommended!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Eyes of the beholder, June 24, 2009
This review is from: Nights of Fire! (Audio CD)
Most of the negative reviews against Ronnie seem to be on his technical ability as a guitarist. He never claims to be from Spain or authentic flamenco just that the music touched him like no other.I once watched CCR and had similar thoughts" simple chords and melodies" but their songs are classics and when you watch the audience they are having a blast.Watch the crowd in this DVD and read many of the comments.Ronnie has a gift not only to touch people with his music but to transport them. His music is beautifully romantic, sensual, festive and FUN.I think his music stands on its own, that said "Nights of Fire" is the complete package WOW.

I was lucky to see this program live as well as own the DVD. The music and dance are fabulous. This artist and his troupe have a lot of years to grow as they discover all their talents.

Each different CD has its own treasures so I reccomend owning them all.

I was amazed by the talent - what a beautiful and wonderful DVD to watch. Ron Benise will touch the lives of many people through this DVD. Even if you do not enjoy Spanish guitar, you should watch this and you will appreciate it! I guarantee it.

5.0 out of 5 stars It gets me to work feeling up-beat and spiritual, April 2, 2006
This review is from: Nights of Fire! (Audio CD)
The music of Benise is phenomenal! I have enjoyed the band from it's earliest days playing Street Fairs in Southern California. Check out Benise.com to learn about the history of the band. I will be going to see Nights of Fire at The Greek Theater in LA in April to celebrate two very important anniversaries: my 34th wedding anniversary and my fifth year cancer free. That's how great they are. Another favorite CD is Mediterranea. Watch out playing it in your car, because you will want to dance!

I never comment on boards like this but these artists from Roni to each musician in this group are AMAZING! I saw Nights of Fire live and was riveted throughout the performance as was my usually impossible to impress friend. For beautiful energizing and innovative music crossing all demographics-Try Benise...
