A master of meditative music, Chappell creates an exquite montage of landscapes made from instrumentals alone. There are gentle tunes reminding you of dusk, of taking long rides home on a lone highway, of finding back long-lost friends. Chappell's music resembles home-made memoirs that you want to keep with you each time you need to be comforted, touched or simply recollect how your inner journey has been. These songs will bring you home, to a place where you've always wanted to belong, that which only your heart will know...and understand...A masterpiece :)

My wife brought this CD home and I thought, UH-oh... ANOTHER "touch-feely-warm-fuzzy-'my karma ran over my dogma'" kind of thing. I was wrong. Like all the other reviewers have noted, this music WILL cool you out after an angst-ridden day at the saltmine or after battling roadragers. And I do not mean this sarcastically, but, honestly, it's better than a...um...'controlled substance' (of your choice) to (please excuse the sixties verbiage here) 'mellow you out.' Brian Eno once said that this kind of music has to be as ignorable as listenable, and he's right, but when the silence gets to be TOO deafening, listen to 'Nightsongs and Lullabies.' It's better than Prozac.

I have all of Jim Chappell's CDs and they're all wonderful--but this has always been my favorite. You literally feel your body relaxing and sinking deeper into the chair when you start to play it. And it's really cool how, after a particularly productive day at work, listening to "A Job Well Done" makes you feel even prouder about what you did :-).

This CD was recommended to me by my ex-husband for our young son. I was looking for some quiet music for my 4 year old son to listen to at bedtime. He has been listening to this C.D. for about 2.5 years now, and actually refers to it as his sleeping music. The songs on this C.D. are so soothing and have a very peaceful feel to them. I see how they relax my son into a peaceful slumber. As the C.D. player plays all night, my son also wakes up to this music. We have snuggle time in the morning before we begin our day, and this music provides a wonderful backdrop to our morning routine. If you are looking for something other than the traditional "baby lullabies" to play for your children, you will find it with this C.D. !!!!!!

From her first week, my daughter went to sleep to this CD. And we never tired of listening to it over the monitor. Every song (but one) is soothing, quieting, and beautiful. Perfect for use by parents who do not want the old standbys.

This album is so great, we bought two copies. One for the house and one for the car. The soothing music will take the stress out of any day, and make the night time wonderful.

I wore my tape out listening to this one. I would listen to one whole side one night and the next switch the the other side. You will never get tired of the sound it is so beautiful!!!! Lullabies aren't just for babies anymore!!!!!!

As a new mommy, I checked this one out of the library 3 years ago and fell in love with it! It brought tears to my eyes, and stirred up so many emotions, sitting in the dark with my new son. The music is so soothing and enchanting. I am about to become a mommy of two, and wanted to find this CD again to have for my very own. I found the listing on AMAZON, and when I clicked on the first sample track, those tears came again! An excellent CD!!!!

I really enjoy the music of Jim Chappell. This CD really is very calming and easy to sleep to.

I've owned this CD for many years, and I play it every night at bedtime. In all these years, I've never gotten tired of hearing Nightsongs & Lullibies.
