Think Mekons with strings, which is a very good thing,
By A Customer
This review is from: Nighttown (Audio CD)
I recently purchased this CD and really enjoy it. Carla Torgerson's voice reminds me a lot of Sally Timms of the Mekons and as both groups have a certain country/folk feel, I found myself thinking, "This is kind of like the Mekons with strings." This is not meant to be a knock. The Walkabout's songs stand very much on their own. If you like very good, intelligent rock for adults, check this out. I am not surprised that this Seattle group is not that well known in the US. Their music is too sophisticated and not easily pigeonholed.
