First Book that Stirred Me,

I was barely a teenager when I first read this Sci-Fi book. It was the first book that stirred me. So, after all these decades I have found it once again. Many years I've had a poster from the front cover that reminded me of this book. Looking back, it has a simple plot. Some information is locked in a mans brain that can change the whole of mankind. No one can get it out so they torture and imprison him. He escapes and discovers an even more profound way to use this information. It's when he learns the true nature of this tool and acquires the true understanding of it is when the bad guys show up again. His epiphany releases the full measure of its philosophical impact that has echoed all through these years that stirs me. It captures the scientific nature of discovery against the odds of establishment. It is this moment that is detailed in print and those insights that define scientific motivation. I haven't read it again as of yet. It still sits on my desk waiting....
