5.0 out of 5 stars When R&B was actually good
Chuckii Booker first bust onto the scene in 1989 with his smash single Turned Away, after which he was the muscial director on Janet Jackson's 1989 Tour. Booker played the background producing for everyone from Troop to Philip Bailey. His 1992 CD featured the smash hit Games and the follow up single With All My Heart. Booker from what I hear is still on the scene playing...

3.0 out of 5 stars Very talented Cat
I had this Album back in the day. "Games" was my Jam back in the day. Chuckii Booker is a Very Talented songwriter, Instrumentalist, Producer&arranger. dig his vocals as well. Glad He is Backing up Lionel Richie these days. they sound tight together. I always overall tended to dig Chuckii's Side work a bit more han his own stuff."Treat U Right" for Angela Winbush is...

5.0 out of 5 stars Chuckii Is a Musical Guru!!, September 26, 2004

This review is from: Niice & Wild (Audio CD)
Please do not sleep on Chuckii Booker's skills. He is one of the most gifted, blessed, talented, wonderful artist, composer, musician, and Musical Director around. Yes, he is still around and causing quite a stir in the music industry. Not only does he have a famous godfather (Barry White) But he gets accolades from Gerald Albright, Troop, Lalah Hathaway, EnVogue, Art Porter, New Edition, and Tina Turner to name a few. Since his induction with his self-title album in May of 89 he has never left the scene. He is just behind the scenes. Am I a Fan... You better believe if from now until there is no more!!!!

Chuckii is one of those unsung R&B heroes of the late 80's early 90's who never got the recognition because of Bobby Brown, Al B. Sure and New Jack artists in general. I am an old school funk fan and by far, would recommend this CD to anyone who loves great music, arrangements and phat R&B/Pop tracks. Too bad he is overlooked because he definitely has his own style, sound and following. He is honorably respected from his musical peers not only as a writer but as a musician as well. Chuckii, if ever by chance you stumble upon this review, just know that you have a true fan from Detroit. J.D.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chuckii is still around!!!, June 30, 2004

For those of you wondering what happened to him, he's been busy making other artists stars with his creative style and inspiration. Check out Lionel Ritchie's new album, Just For You. He's been a busy boy working with several artists including Brandy and Usher.. this mans talent is truly a gift! I'm trying to talk him into doing something of his own again but so far no luck. I'll keep trying lol. At the very least, I'm gonna get him to do a duet.

As far as his two albums, I still listen to his music. I never get tired of it. This album is a must in your music collection, as well as Lionel's recent release. Doesn't matter whether Chuckii is singing lead, backup vocals, or playing the keyboard or guitar, this man is a star in every sense of the word!

5.0 out of 5 stars you stil can't sleep on Chuckii, April 13, 2006
This review is from: Niice & Wild (Audio CD)
When I first heard the song "turned away" I was in 12th grade and I was so in love with this songs melody and piano that I stole the cassette tape from a friends graduation party. I was desperate to say the least. Why does the record industry and music lovers sleep on Chuckii? I know it's politics because I'm a musician. I became interested in playing the piano because of Chuckii Booker. to me, he brought the piano back into existence when he mixed it with hard moog basses and distored guitar. And to date, the only people that could come close to mimicking his style is Mint Condition and they still don't have as much funk as Chuckii.

People who love music should have all of chuckii music even if it' not on his album. He does so much work! Chuckii, if you ever read this, I want to thank you for playing on the only gospel choir album you worked on for an artist from Oakland, I never met you but I did the arrangements preproduction for the track and you blessed it with your horn and brass arrangements and drum progaming. Every live musical performance i arrange, I always ask myself, "what would chuckii do?" Cause I know there is no better musical director in the world better than you and they way you laced your albums is the way you've laced Janet, TLC, Albright, Lalah, Tina and Lionel. I know the record companies ain't showing you luv as an artist but you have such a big fan base, espcially musicians, it's time you do another album, even if it's low budget and or "underground", you will will get so much love, for reals! This review is from: Niice & Wild (Audio CD)
Chuckii Booker is the baddest all around musician. This album is everything and more that you could ever except out of an r&b album. It would be cool if people still made music as beautiful as chuckii did. cop this now!!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Lovely album, March 17, 2008
By
This review is from: Niice & Wild (Audio CD)
Love, love, love, this album every song is well... you have to hear it "For Lovers Only" is simply beautiful. "Frontline" has a bassline so sharp that it could cut you, and the sexy, tight percussive vocals blow me away! "Games" has an almost sentimental whimsical quality that makes the hair stand up on my neck each time I hear it.. Combined with the slick bass, percussion and keyboards, I guess, I'll never grow tired of this song.

Also I just can't get over the without compare "I Should Have Loved You" It's transcendental I get goose pimples when I listen to it. The harmonies at the beginning the lead vocal the way the music isn't afraid to be sentimental.

The "Nice 'N Wild" album has a more grown up Chuckii Booker than "Chuckii" and it's simply brilliant. I would love to hear what he would do for an encore now that he has achieved the rich patina of age..
