5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Debut (Sort of)!
First off, let me just clarify that the reason I put "sort of" in the title of this review is not because her album is sort of good. Rather, it's sort of a debut because although it is her debut album on Jive Records (home of Britney Spears, *NSYNC, American Juniors, etc.), it is NOT Nikki's musical debut. Nikki, dear, you have a lovley voice. But honestly, you should not be doing music like this. The songs are about clingy, IneedmyboyfriendorI'lldie type girls. Let's begin with the first single off her album "The Game". It is about, I am not making this up, girls who make a bet on who will be the first to kiss him. I'm sorry tween generation, but when is romance...

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Debut (Sort of)!, August 22, 2003
This review is from: Nikki Cleary (Audio CD)
First off, let me just clarify that the reason I put "sort of" in the title of this review is not because her album is sort of good. Rather, it's sort of a debut because although it is her debut album on Jive Records (home of Britney Spears, *NSYNC, American Juniors, etc.), it is NOT Nikki's musical debut. When she was younger, she sang a song called "IM Me" written by her own father. Her real name is Brittney Cleary, which is the name that she used for the 'IM Me' song. When she got signed to Jive, she dropped Brittney and went for a name her manager suggested -- Nikki -- instead. I had heard her IM Me single a coupel of years ago and liked it, but I did not hear of her again until I bought some cereal and there was a sampler CD included. '1,2,3' (Nikki's first single off Jive) was included on the CD, and I loved it! Then, I heard that was doing a remake of 'You're the One I Want' (the Grease song) with Chris Trousdale (Dream Street member) and I was thrilled, because Chris is one of my favorite singers! The remake is AMAZING, and so is Nikki's entire album. Her newest song, 'Summertime Guys' (KimPossible soundtrack) was even written by her! Make sure you check this out!

5.0 out of 5 stars : ), March 6, 2004

When I first heard the song 1-2-3, I was addicted. I knew Nikki Cleary had a very high quality in voice, and I couldn't wait until her CD came out. I liked all the songs on the CD when it did.
1. The Game - This is a very orignal song. Nikki does it very well, and it makes you want to sing along.
2. You're The One I Want - A very good remake of the original. This modernized version has completly differant, poppy music.
3. 1-2-3 - My favorite song! The music is mixed differantly than other pop songs I hear. This is a great song for people who first hear Nikki Cleary.
4. Summertime Guys - I like this song because it shows the fun of summer.
5. Fish Out Of Water - The tune of this song is so nice. I always get this song stuck in my head.
6. Sorry For Myself - I thing the whole point of this song is funny, because she's just feeling sad and sorry for herself for no reason at all.
7. I Miss You (It's Weird That You Don't Notice)- Although not original songwriting, I still like this song.
8. Walking On Sunshine - It sounds like Nikki had alot of fun singing this, which makes fun to listen to.
9. Irrestible - Nikki C. sang this so well because of the ranges she goes through so smoothly.
10. When Will I get Over (You Getting Over Me)- This song is so sad, it sounds like she will do anything to feel better, and she believes she never will.

5.0 out of 5 stars AN AWESOME CD!, August 10, 2003
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Nikki Cleary (Audio CD)
I love this CD. Honestly I just bought this CD because she sang ''You're the one I want'' from Grease and I loved her song 1,2,3. For those of you that havn't heard, I read that her real name is Brittany. She changed her name because Jive Records is the same record company as Brittany Spears and she didn't think that Jive Records would want two Brittanys. I was very inpressed with this CD. I would reccomend it to any pop music fan. Don't wait another second, buy it today and you won't be sorry!

I'm sorry tween generation, but when is romance and kissing going to go back to being something you don't just do for fun? The next song is no better, a cover song for Grease (let's face it, you can't make Grease songs pop. It just doesn't work.) featuring a member of *shudder* Dreamstreet. Ok, skip that one and we come to "1-2-3". I personally like the music of this song, and the lyrics have a bit of creativity (the whole number thematics) but this song provides a nice little bridge over to the version of Nikki which I despise: shallow-clingy-girl with social issues. The track "Summertime Boys" is perfectly annoying and completely stereotyped. What's happening to our children, our youth?! Aren't they supposed to be intelligent fresh minded individuals??! "Fish Out Of Water" talks about how Nikki (or whoever wrote the song) is apparently so dependent on her boyfriend its like "a butterfly with no wings" and "a struggle to breath" without him. Geez, talk about unhealthy dependence. "Sorry For Myself" is utterfly stupid, with a negative approach on breakup. "I Miss You" is about the same thing. I mean, who would honestly miss a guy to the point of being clinically depressed if he might laugh in her face for it? Typical typical, Nikki. Not to mention the fact there's only 10 tracks. I do not under any circumstances reccomend this album to members of the human race.

3.0 out of 5 stars three reasons, April 29, 2004
By
This review is from: Nikki Cleary (Audio CD)
I gave this album three stars because there are three reasons that I'm buying this album someday. One is "The Game." I don't know why I like it, but I do. The second is "Sorry For Myself," because although the cheese factor is as disgustingly high as the rest of the album, the phone conversation at the beginning made me laugh. The third reason is "I Miss You (It's Weird That You Don't Notice)," and that's just because I can personally relate to the lyrics.

Now, the bad news--the rest of the songs pretty much suck. Nikki Cleary can sing very well, especially for someone so young, but she lacks an original style, and seems to be very manufactured; this is further suggested by the fact that she changed her name from Britney to Nikki because Jive Records didn't want consumers to confuse her with Britney Spears. Most of her songs are generally bland, repetitive pop ditties that lose any appeal they might have had by the end of the first chorus. I give her points for potential, though, and as I said, I liked those three songs. It's too bad that the only promotion she gets is through her web site and through--*gag*--Radio Disney. Talk about a surefire way to ruin a great career before it starts...Whatever, though. At least she's better than Hilary Duff.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, August 22, 2003

This CD is absolutely amazing! Her vocals are incredible. There is something for everybody. There are upbeat tunes, sweet ballads, even some re-makes. Personally my favorite song is "The Game" because she has amazing vocals and it just makes me want to listen to it over and over and over. This is her first album and surely won't be her last! She even co-wroted the song "Summertime Guys". She is truly amazing. I give this CD a 100%. I suggest you order it, and believe me you won't be disapointed. Thank you
