A very good choice.,

I have bought a couple of binoculars in the past. Always thinking the higher magnification was better. That's not always true as keeping the object steady at 10 and higher with your hands is tough. The higher mags also suck up light making the image darker. Now I have an Eagleview Zoom and don't worry which model I should have chosen. For the most part it stays at 8 but when I really need to get close the zoom is great. The turn and slide eyecups are a fine feature.
Love 'em.

I've wanted to purchase a pair of binoculars for a couple of years, but kept putting it off because I figured I'd have to dump at least $300 on a quality pair. I wanted something compact, good quality, and affordable. Not exactly an easy order. But after reading the reviews for these bins, I figured I'd give them a try. All I can say is wow. These are exactly what I was looking for. They provide a very crisp image at the lower magnification levels. And even at 24x, although usually impractical, they are a lot of fun. I find it easy to focus and change the zoom level with one hand which is a plus. For general purpose viewing, these are fantastic binoculars. The bins shipped with a black velcro-flap carrying case with a belt loop on the back, and a small carrying strap that you can attach to your bins.
** UPDATE ** I've owned these bins for about 5 years now and they are still just like new. Despite frequent use, I am amazed at how well they have remained in tip top shape. None of the moving parts have become loose or worn. All of the optics are still just as crisp and clear as the day I bought them, and not once have I had a problem with condensation. So... five years later I can still claim that these are amazing binoculars that are very well made and are of great value.

Having had binoculars in the past be either way too expensive or too cheap, I wanted a new pair that would replace a pair that was loaned out, then lost. The opportunity presented itself in the form of a trip to Canada this past September, which required something that would be able to capture the Canadian Rocky vistas, but also not be so heavy that I would feel like needing a cart to stow them in. The Nikon Eagleview Binoculars seem to fill the bill (not too expensive, but also not too heavy). They have a great zoom feature that is easily changed as well as being able to easily focus with one hand. My only complaint is that while zooming in on a subject, the light level is reduced, which occurs naturally due to the nature of optics. You can't have everything, but these were just right, allowing my wife and I to use them time and time again while observing nature. In summary, a good pair for all-around use!

good binocular,

If anyone is thinking of purchasing a good binocular for eveyday use this
one will fill the need. the lense is very clear compared to another set I own. It is light and compact and if you are going to have one in the car or carrying with you on vacation to use for the unexpected event this one will be perfect. One other point to mention is the zoom, although 8-10 is the range most people will use the extra range is a bonus for the long distant view. ps it's better to have a set of binoculars that are light and compact, that is not a burden to carry than, a very expensive heavy set that will stay home most of the time i've learned that lesson.

Oh my god~! This binoculars are AMAZING~! Nikon JAPAN did it AGAIN~!!! I travel all over the world, I attend all sorts of sports event, Nature Watch, and do some SPY work~! I have looked over 300 type and kind of Binoculars, and I FINALLY found this one~!! and bought it for $70 for Sale. It is even BETTER design then the previous model, very light weight, Ease of Use, Compact that fit in my pocket, and POSWERFUL enough to see Galaxy in the sky. I was little concerned if I would loose the Light as you power up the zoom, NOT SO~!!!! If you want ALL round binoculars that are made with QUALITY and right PRICE, this is THE ONE.

Clearly the best binoculars I have ever owned. It is very clear and makes my job easier when reading electric meters. I have been using binoculars for this job since 1982 and have never had a binoculars that is as clear as this one is when looking thru it.

does not hold focus while zooming,

These binoculars seemed like a great idea that was well designed, but upon opening the box today, I noticed there was a visible flaw in the objective lens, prompting its quick return to seller. It was brand new and should not, at ~$140, come with defects. The seller ([...[) was very quick at getting the unit returned at no cost to me. Very reasonable, no hassle.
While on the phone setting up the return, I decided to dump this design. Reason: the Eagleview was unable to hold its focus while zooming, a fatal flaw in my book. Instead I reordered the Nikon Travelite V, 8-24/25, which was barely different in price. I have an old pair of the Travelite IIIs which still works great, and I am hoping the zoom engineering on the TL-V is better than on their Eagleviews. Might have given it three stars if it wasn't for the flaw in the lens, which colored my expectation of the overall quality of all others in this line.

Using the Binoculars for general viewing of wildlife they work great. They do need good lighting to perform well. I use the 8X most of the time as the zoom can be shakey unless you hold them up against something to make it steady. Overall very good value for the price and lightweight.

Bought these for travel. I was flying all around the US every week and got bored, so I would whip these out and site see from 35,000 feet. The zoom feature works great! The do get a little wobbly, of course. But they are clearer than other binoculars I've used when zooming in.
I also use these for planet spotting. I can see the rings around Saturn, Jupitor and at least four of it's moons. |
