The view from this product is excellent as is the quality. The optics are second to none. I was recently travelling and every person I was with had to wait for their binoculars/monoculars to dry out from the humidity before using. I did not - the seals held very well. My only issue with this item, and it may be a function on the fact that it is a monocular, was that it was not usable from anything but a steady platform. If I was on a moving vehicle, boat, etc. it was impossible to center an image.

I tried about a dozen different monoculars and this one easily had the best image quality of all of them. It was also the most expensive, so I guess you get what you pay for. It is also fairly compact, only a couple of models were smaller. Focusing action was smooth. The monocular seems fairly sturdy, however the hard plastic rims on each end seem like they would be a problem if the unit was dropped. The other negative is the case, while it is nice, it does not have a belt loop.If $200 is too much for your budget, try the Nikon 6x15 Monocular II or the Vanguard Dm-8250 Monocular. Both are less expensive. The Nikon is lighter and more compact, the Vanguard has a little better image and is very reasonably priced but is kind of big. However, both are a step down in image quality from this model.

Don't leave home without it...,
This review is from: Nikon 7x15 High Grade Monocular (Electronics)
I have had this little monocular for 2 years on boats, hiking, wilderness camping, show-shoeing and even just lounging around on the deck. The image is so sharp and clear that each time I use it I am astounded yet again at the details it reveals about anything you're looking at. Glasses or contacts are no problem with eye relief. Initially stability was an issue but, it was my issue as to how to cradle the little thing to minimize shake. That becomes second nature after a short while and I now take it everywhere there may be a view and curse to myself dramatically when I forget it. The lanyard makes it easy to wear around the neck so it's always ready and the focus is dampened, smooth and fast. Quality is excellent and even though it has been knocked around a fair amount, there are no effects from my carelessness. I have not immersed it, but have been in very heavy rain with no problems. This unit has become one of the essential items in my pack. There is one very major downside however: I need another one. One for the car console and one that always stays with my pack so I can stop swearing at myself for forgetting to take it out of the console after I'm 5 miles in and on top of the mountain...
