The son wanted one for his birthday and what the son wants the dad has to have. I surprised them both.
I read through product descriptions and reviews for 2 days on a multitude of web sites and settled on this one as the best one in my price range.
They both love it - the accuracy is within a very acceptable range.
Neither one can argue over distances any more.
It's proved to be accurate for both NE Missouri deer and turkey.
The terrain has not always been the best, but the Nikon 8370 550 Laser Rangefinder proved to be up to the task.
When the guys are happy and there is deer hanging - I'm happy.

I've bow hunted 5 times. In those times I've shot at two deer: The first was a miss...I shot under the deer b/c I grossly underestimated the yardage. The second opportunity came after I received the Nikon ProStaff 550 for a Christmas present from my girlfriend. It was a kill.

This is a very nice range finder. It's simple and compact enough to fit in your vest pocket. The Nikon Archer's Choice offers inclination compensation but with today's flat shooting bows (mine is set up to shoot around 275fps) and after having used the ProStaff 550, I can't imagine that it makes much of a difference. Twenty yards from a 15' treestand is going to shoot the same as twenty yards from the ground. Although physics dictates that the arrow trajectory will be affected as elevation changes, it's not going to be very much when you are only shooting twenty to forty yards. My kill came at twenty yards, the ProStaff 550 ranged it at twenty yards and my twenty yard pin put the arrow right where it was supposed to. What more can you ask for in a rangefinder? The bonus of this rangefinder over the Archer's Choice is the additional yardage/range capabilities (The Archer's Choice only ranges up to a 100 yards).

I have a older range finder that is just to big to have at the ready. This range finder is 1/3 the size of my old one and measures closer and farther then the old one. This is a great range finder at an even better price!

When I shopped for this item the information regarding the item was incorrect. I bought the range finder believing the info that stated this range finder adjusted for elevation. It does not. I returned the item and informed the supplier and Amazon.com. It took a few e-mails but they corrected the Technicial Detail section and it took over two weeks but I did get my money back.
If you want a flat line range finder this is a great unit. Simple to operate and quick to give you feed back information.If you hunt from a tree stand or in the mountains it may not be what you are looking for in a range finder.

Got this as a Christmas present. Have some land in central Pennsylvania that is pretty good deer hunting. Some open fields, some in the woods. Went and checked on some recent shots a I took (that I estimated the distances on) and it proved that I was pretty close to what I thought it was. It worked for what I wanted it for. In thick woods, it's not as good, but then that's not expected. Great product at a good price with the rebate! Also, at the time of purchase they were out of the green or brown ones, but I think I like the camo one better!

Very fast shipping on this product-!! I bought this for hunting & have not ben disappointed. I used it in the rain & fog with out a problem. Its very durable an very weather proof. It came with a caring pouch that hooks to a belt. Witch was perfect to hook to my hunting backpack. Great Rang finder-!!

My husband asked for this for his birthday and I reluctantly spent the money. They aren't cheap but once we recieved it, I knew why. This thing is AMAZING!!! You can point it at anything, even a stone, yards and yards away and it tells you exactly how far you are from it. Great purchase!!!

I bought this for my husband, for Christmas. He loves it. He has used it every time that he has gone hunting since. And it's Camo! And not just any old camo, its realtree! (because the deer can tell the difference between old school camouflage and an out-doorsy design) which is good because just in case those ever suspicious deer are looking at that strange figure in a tree stand, they'll never know he's using this range finder to calculate the distance between him and them.

I cant tell you how great this rangefinder is. Its super easy to use and very accurate. I would definately recommend the neoprene carry case.

For the price its a nice basic rangefinder. I confirmed yardages at my sportsmens club and was spot on. Also use it archery hunting with my son a couple times. Havent had the opp to range a deer yet, but use to range trees for refernece. Yesterday was disappointed as there was just a little fog and the finder would not give ranges. It wasnt a heavy fog, just a little so if we had seen a deer we would have been guessing the yardage, same as before we had the rangefinder..
