Nikon's renowned Brightvue multi-coating provides 92% light transmission for outstanding optical clarity. |
Built to withstand the toughest hunting conditions, these scopes integrate shock-, fog-, and water-proof construction, as well as numerous other features rarely found on riflescopes in this price range. Nikon's Brightvue anti-reflective system of multicoated lenses provides over 92% anti-reflection capability for the high levels of light transmission and optical clarity necessary for dawn-to-dusk big game hunting. After the lenses are cut and polished, Nikon coats them with multiple layers of anti-reflective compounds. The compounds serve to boost light transmission, improve contrast to pull game out of its surroundings, deliver true color rendition and flare-free viewing, and enhance the overall image quality.
The brightest in its class, the Nikon Buckmasters riflescope has a proven track record of reliability, durability, and precision, making it a true hunter's workhorse. The scope is at home on nearly any hunting rifle, muzzle loader, or even rimfire, boasting a rugged, one-inch main body tube, a bullet drop compensating (BDC) reticle for easy holdover out to 600 yards (magnum calibers), and ultra-high-performance lenses.
The BDC reticle is perhaps the most compelling feature, as its trajectory-compensating system is designed and calibrated to provide fast, simple aiming points for various shot distances. The unique system integrates a series of small "ballistic circles" to produce an unobstructed view of the target.
The bullet drop compensating (BDC) reticle provides fast, simple aiming points for various shot distances. |

This review is from: Nikon Buckmaster 6-18x40 Riflescope (SF Matte, BDC) (Sports)
This is my second Nikon Buckmaster scope. I like the first one so much I bought this one for my Weatherby rifle. Shot at different ranges to figure out the hold using the BDC reticle. Now anything out to 600 yds is hitable as long as I read the wind correctly.

Beginning to See Why Everybody Likes Nikon,
This review is from: Nikon Buckmaster 6-18x40 Riflescope (SF Matte, BDC) (Sports)
I got the Nikon Buckmasters 6-18x40 scope with mil-dot reticule for about $310 plus shipping. I mounted the scope on a .223 target rifle, and have been quite pleased with it.
I was considering buying a Bushnell 3200 Tactical Elite 5-15x40 at the time, which is roughly in the same price range, but went with the Buckmasters because it happened to go on sale. While I can't compare the two directly, I have extensively used the Bushnell 3200 Tactical Elite 10x40 and can say that the quality of the Nikon optic is substantially higher. The Bushnell is not a bad scope at all, but the clarity and light transmission of the Buckmasters are decidedly superior and I'm sure that I made the right decision, even if it was a shot in the dark at the time. The accessories included with the Buckmasters are nice additions to the package. It comes with a sunshade, which isn't necessary to most of my shooting, but is still nice to have. I also found two target turrets included in the box (see customer image), which can be screwed on in place of the factory-installed hunting turrets. I prefer the target turrets, and take them as evidence of Nikon's correct assessment that they have produced a scope that can capably fill both roles. There may be a better scope that can be had for $300-$350, but I haven't yet come across one.

This review is from: Nikon Buckmaster 6-18x40 Riflescope (SF Matte, BDC) (Sports)
I bought this scope to use on my Rem 700 SPS Varmint rifle (308 Win). I added the Harris bipod, 9-13 in, L model. I was attempting to build a super accurate Varmint/sniper rifle for long distance shooting in the mountains. This really fit the bill. It has a choice of normal or large turret adjustment knobs and comes with a long sun shield. I've used this at a range where the sun was setting just a few degrees over the target and still had no side glare. The Nikon optics are as usual - extremely clear, light gathering. I chose the bullet drop compensating (BDC) reticle, which allows using the lower rings for dead on sighting at 200,300,400,500 yds. Completely satisfied in every way. Shipping was prompt as always.
