This review is from: Nikon Buckmaster 6-18x40 Riflescope (SF Matte, BDC) (Sports)
This is my second Nikon Buckmaster scope. I like the first one so much I bought this one for my Weatherby rifle. Shot at different ranges to figure out the hold using the BDC reticle. Now anything out to 600 yds is hitable as long as I read the wind correctly.

Beginning to See Why Everybody Likes Nikon,
This review is from: Nikon Buckmaster 6-18x40 Riflescope (SF Matte, BDC) (Sports)
I got the Nikon Buckmasters 6-18x40 scope with mil-dot reticule for about $310 plus shipping. I mounted the scope on a .223 target rifle, and have been quite pleased with it.
I was considering buying a Bushnell 3200 Tactical Elite 5-15x40 at the time, which is roughly in the same price range, but went with the Buckmasters because it happened to go on sale. While I can't compare the two directly, I have extensively used the Bushnell 3200 Tactical Elite 10x40 and can say that the quality of the Nikon optic is substantially higher. The Bushnell is not a bad scope at all, but the clarity and light transmission of the Buckmasters are decidedly superior and I'm sure that I made the right decision, even if it was a shot in the dark at the time. The accessories included with the Buckmasters are nice additions to the package. It comes with a sunshade, which isn't necessary to most of my shooting, but is still nice to have. I also found two target turrets included in the box (see customer image), which can be screwed on in place of the factory-installed hunting turrets. I prefer the target turrets, and take them as evidence of Nikon's correct assessment that they have produced a scope that can capably fill both roles. There may be a better scope that can be had for $300-$350, but I haven't yet come across one.

I bought this scope to use on my Rem 700 SPS Varmint rifle (308 Win). I added the Harris bipod, 9-13 in, L model. I was attempting to build a super accurate Varmint/sniper rifle for long distance shooting in the mountains. This really fit the bill. It has a choice of normal or large turret adjustment knobs and comes with a long sun shield. I've used this at a range where the sun was setting just a few degrees over the target and still had no side glare. The Nikon optics are as usual - extremely clear, light gathering. I chose the bullet drop compensating (BDC) reticle, which allows using the lower rings for dead on sighting at 200,300,400,500 yds. Completely satisfied in every way. Shipping was prompt as always.

It is a Nikon! Great scope, with very clear optics. Also, have a cheaper Prostaff Nikon scope, but the Buckmaster is worth the extra bucks. The Prostaff requires a tool to adjust, while the Buckmaster can be adjusted by hand. Also has parallax adjustment at 50 yard increments.

I bought this scope for my Remington 700 a year ago and I couldn't ask for any more. I had first bout a 3-9x scope but when I tested it out it didn't magnify enough for my terrible eyes. So I upgraded to this scope and I have had no problems or issues. Brightness and clarity is Great!!! Parallax setting works good when used properly. I would recommend this scope up to 3-400 yds anything further and you may want more magnification.

Ended up after a LOT of research and contemplating, spending twice what I wanted to getting this scope. Purchased from a almost local dealer for support's sake. I had boiled it down to this one or the Coyote 4-14 Special, else I was just gonna get a cheap one like normal. After comparing the 2 Nikons in person, the 6-18 won hands down! Hands down!! After seeing how the focus improves at high mag. with the side parallax adjustment on the two Nikons the cheaper scopes left the picture. I took both scopes both in low light and outside when comparing btw. Found there were a couple problems with the Coyote Special the Buckmaster didn't have. The Buckmaster was noticeably brighter than the Coyote at all times. Also the BDC reticule both had was never quite in focus on the Coyote, the Buckmaster was in perfect focus. I think the scope is money well spent, versus less expensive ones.

This is the first Nikon scope I have ever purchased, it is well worth the money. I mounted it had it zeroed in 5 shots at 75 yards, nothin but good things to say about it.

This scope is the clearest scope i own, even compared to those $300 more. The BDC reticle is perfect. Nikon is the only scope i will buy now. Highly recommended.

This scope is of the best quality I have seen, Yet another wonderful scope from Nikon - it comes with a 4 inch sunshade. The BDC Recticle is amazing and if you go to Nikons site you can put in your type of ammo and it will tell you where you should aim at what distance for that ammo. Wonderful buy.

Clear, sharp image, and I like the BDC reticle. Haven't done any hunting with it yet, but have loaned it to my grandson (a gung ho Marine) who bagged a deer and a wild hog with one shot each. He loves it!
