I love it so much!!!

As an amateur photographer who has dabbled around with various point and shoot cameras (aside from learning about my dslr nikon D7000), I find the photo quality to be stunning for such a small camera. Perfect for on the go when I don't want to carry my larger camera, but still guaranteed to get a great shot. Highly recommended.

I bought this camera to replace my old Kodak easy share and it outshines it tremendously.
It is not perfect, but it is a good little camera so far, only had it for about a week.
It takes clear pictures, the stabilization is good and it takes good pictures in dim light.
It is easy to use and it plays the videos on my windows 8.1 pc, the old Kodak did not.
It does have a date stamp if you want to use it, someone had commented that it did not.
Sometimes the delay when trying to capture a fast moving person or object is a little slow, like a couple of seconds.
I bought a couple of spare batteries and a charger to have a fully charged one ready when needed.
I have not tried the wifi connection, so I don't know about it.

So far so good! I got this camera about a week ago and it takes great pictures! I originally had one a few generations back that was starting to die out and would no longer get very good pictures, but now that has all changed! This camera has some nice additional features as well that allow it to edit the photos while still on the camera as well as connect to wifi (though I have not yet figure out the latter part yet). The only thing I wish could be improved on this camera is the instructions on how to set up the wifi. Otherwise it is great!

A few years back I bought a COOLPIX S6300 and it performed very well. While taking a photo from the back of a motorcycle, my girlfriend caught a bug directly into the lens opening. We cleaned it out as quickly and thoroughly as we could, but parts of the bug caused permanent dark blotches in all subsequent photos.
Well, it has been a couple years so maybe the S5300 currently is equivalent of the previous S6300. And, indeed, some features like the video capture is far better on the new camera.
However, the camera takes forever to power up. Often the first photo cannot be taken for 4-5 seconds. For candid opportunities, this is an eternity. Other times, the focus gets confused by the fact that we are moving and fails to operate. It either refuses to snap a picture or is completely out of focus.
It does take good photos, but for my purposes the above shortcomings often make it unusable.

Do not buy this camera. I have owned 3 of them. The 1st one after only 1 year decided to stop extending its lens. The 2nd one was fresh out the box and would not take a charge. The 3rd after only 6 months decided to stop powering on all together. I don't know what your budget may allow, but for me $100 does not make a disposable camera. My opinion, it is an over produced piece of junk that no one cares to quality check properly. Avoid at all costs.

It is unbelievable to this old man how far technology has come. I'm from the age of listening to my favorite drama's on the radio and commercial air travel was just getting "off the ground". This camera does all the things I want it to do plus so much more. I can not believe the clarity of the pictures both LCD screen and the actual finished product. I still have so much more to learn about it. It will customize your pictures and make them look like paintings if you want. Only part I don't like is the fact that it is its own battery charger. I'd like to be able to charge backup batteries as spares without having to use the camera as a charger.

I bought this one because my old Coolpix S4000 camera stopped working after nearly 5 years. So far I have yet to experiment with it. I have a wedding coming up later this week and will definitely put it to the test. At the moment, I really like it. it has a pretty nice screen, the zoom is awesome thus far. I am also pretty excited about learning how to work the wi-fi. Regardless I will write an update after the wedding.
