Was delighted to finally get this AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8G ED Zoom (coffee mug) here on Amazon, as it had been on my wish list for quite some time. This is one that can be used in a studio environment, yet is also well suited for field use, as it even comes with a Nikon-badged carrying pouch.

Likes:

+ Excellent ergonomics; best overall balance is at the 50mm settings on the zoom ring
+ Extremely low caffeine aberration; Photoshop corrections completely unnecessary
+ No vibration reduction (VR) on this one; not needed for normal operation
+ M/A - M switch locked in the normal M/A position; not needed for beverage intake
+ Excellent twist-on/off Nikon cap; won't get mixed up with others in the camera bag
+ Capacity is ~235 mL ml (about 8-ounces); stainless steel interior; good for field or studio use
+ Great for putting among Nikon lenses in the camera bag; true conversation piece
+ Impresses badge-conscious friends, clients and art directors

Dislikes:

- The optional Nikon HB-40 Bayonet Lens Hood doesn't fit properly

In Use:

This AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8G ED Zoom (coffee mug) is a highly useful addition to any Nikon DSLR user's arsenal, even if it's really just a lens replica coffee cup. It's a conversation piece and at just a few feet away is enough to fool most observers, as the details are fairly accurate when compared with the real thing.

A few serious cautionary notes: be sure to hand wash the interior of this coffee mug carefully if you get it.

Mug looks just like the lens but wish it had a sipping top. Annoying to have to twist off the top to take a drink.

This is a great coffee mug, looks just like my lens, good enough that security stopped me from bring it into work (then allowed it after I showed them it was a cup of coffee)! The only improvement that I'd like to see, is a larger size.

A great product that gets my recomindatioon (and already a few references to friends).

Cons:
- Plastic. It looks fake the moment you see it up close but, from afar, it looks like the real thing.
- Printed text is ugly. Apart from the "Manual/Auto Focus" text that's printed reversely, the labels on the lens aren't 1:1 with the original product. Some letters have too much spacing, some don't.
- Zooms but hard to clean. When you drink, sometimes liquid drips inside the zoomable/movable portion of the lens after you retract your lips. Liquid gets inside the inner part of the lens and causes the coffee to drip down (as mentioned by other reviewers) when it reaches down the zoom ring.
- Focus Scale is plastic, doesn't move. The focus scale is the thing in the middle of the Nikon logo and the "N"; it's plastic, doesn't even look like glass.

Pros:
-Zooms. But could also be a con.

Key thing to note is that you should not use it with hot drinks that are steaming (which would be pointless) cause the steam condenses on the lid and when you open it, liquid spills from the lid. Also, as mentioned, liquid gets inside the zoom ring and goes out the other side which spills liquid on your pants.

Seems to be of good quality though I haven't had it for very long. Zoom function was a little sticky at first, but it works fine now. Biggest downside is that it can't hold that much liquid, but overall I'm very satisfied

Strengths:
The cup is realistic and the zoom is a cool function that adds to it. Has all the external details of a real, brandname Nikon lens. Comes with a carrying bag and strap that I assume resembles an actual Nikon accessory.

Weaknesses:
Up close, it's a bit cheap looking. It doesn't hold very much, so I would buy this as a fun gift more so than just a coffee cup. Also, there is no hole in the top to drink from so the lid must be removed to take a drink. However, the lid is very easy to remove and this counters for that somewhat.

Overall, It's more of a novelty than a practical coffee cup; good gift idea for Nikon/coffee fans.

I received his from my brother as a gift. First, upon opening the box it looked like the inner box had been through a soccer game. I guess it's just a box, so I figured oh well. I was extremely excited to use it and this morning, upon its first use, just walking to the car coffee spewed out the edges of the lid. Obviously, the mug didn't seal. Upon opening the lid to drink, coffee poured out of some random location and all onto my jacket and my pants. Even just holding the cup liquid continued to seep out of the creases and by the time I got to work it was all over me. Inferior product at a price that can be argued as a rip-off, the worst part of this is that I had to return a gifted item from my brother which didn't leave him feeling too good either. If I could assign negative stars this would definitely warrant it.

I first used it with hot coco inside and it spilled all over my clothes and when i checked it with water , it was coming from every side as it was made of poor materials ...
Not worth buying unless if u want it as something to put it on your desk or hang it somewhere but as a mug it failed .
