I have a book on how to take photographs but this one is specific to your camera. I am so happy this came out along with my new camera. The Nikon D5300 is my first dslr so I really enjoyed how this book goes into substantial detail over every technical function but on top of that, it teaches you about exposure and how to take a professional quality photograph as well.

This is a very good starting point for users of the Nikon D5300. The D5300 comes with not much of a manual, and I found that this one filled the gap. It is great that one can have this on one's Kindle or iPad, for easy reference in the field. I found that if I just read through this one like a novel and highlighted the important chapters that I wound up with a very handy reference guide. The author's writing is clear and helpful, unlike Nikon's "manual." RJB.

This should be a companion book to David Busch's D5300 Guide. It does cover some items not included in David's tome.

The book didn't do much more than elaborate on the camera's included manual, and didn't add much that wasn't already covered. After the long wait . . . and then some more waiting for publishing, it was a letdown. This is a good manual for someone with little photography experience, but not so useful for the user that is looking to push the limits of the new camera itself.

The Nikon 5300 was an upgrade from my D40. The additional features are explained very well in the Dummies book.
