The Nikon D3000 is a great package for beginning Single Lens Reflex. The picture clarity and detail is fabulous. Don't forget an extra battery it's a must for serious all day pics.

First off let me start by saying that I am no expert in cameras. So my opinion is strctly based off of the "average consumer". Having said that, this camera is awesome. I previously had a basic $200 digital camera, which was fine, but my wife wanted to start taking more high quality pics of the kids, etc. My sister in law has this camera and after a visit with them and saw what it can do, my wife fell in love with it. The quality of the pictures is amazing. Based on other reviews and advice from others who have similar cameras, I went ahead and spent the extra money and bought the package deal which included the long range lens, camera bag, memory card, etc. I think the extended lens in $200 by itself so it's a better deal to buy the package. I would definitely suggest this camera to anyone looking into SLR camera
