The lens included with this camera is a standard zoom wide-angle lens, which you can get some very good shots with. However, depending on how far away your subject(s) is(are) you may need a lens with a longer focal length. Many customer get this camera/lens outfit in conjunction with either the Nikon 55-200mm lens, or the 55-300mm lens. Either one of those telephoto lenses will allow you get in close to your subject(s) that is(are) farther away.

The kit from Nikon does not. You may be able to find a bundle from a seller like Adorama.
