Product Description

New, Nikon ProStaff 4-12x40mm Riflescope, Matte w/ Nikoplex Reticle 6728

Amazon.com

Boasting Nikon's fully multicoated optical system and a versatile 4 to 12x magnification range, the ProStaff 4-12x40 riflescope helps put virtually any shot in your comfort zone. The scope's optical system transmits up to 98 percent of available light, ensuring maximum brightness in low-light, low-contrast hunting situations. To simplify field adjustments, Nikon also integrated a zero-reset turret into the riflescope. Just sight in as usual, lift the spring-loaded adjustment knob, rotate to your "zero," and re-engage. Field adjustments are now as simple as dialing in your subsequent ranges.

Nothing boosts a shooter's level of confidence better than generous, constant eye relief, which is why Nikon provided 3.7 inches of eye relief in the ProStaff. No more rough kickback from heavy recoiling cartridges, lightweight rifles, severe shooting angles, and just plain excitement. Other features include a Nikoplex reticle; a nitrogen-filled, O-ring-sealed housing that's waterproof and fogproof; support for an optional sunshade accessory for bright, rainy, or dusty conditions; and a quick-focus eyepiece. The perfect riflescope for hunters who travel the country hunting game in diverse conditions, the ProStaff 4-12x40 riflescope carries a lifetime warranty.

The ProStaff riflescope includes a Nikoplex reticle.

I bought this scope to replace a Leupold Vari-X II 3-9. This scope is way better. The lens are extremely clear, zoom moves with ease, zero reset turrets work well and it looks good on my rifle.

My favorite feature is the zero reset turrets. So after you sight in your rifle at 100 yards, you can then pull up on the turrents and change their position without adjusting the scope. After I sighted in I adjusted them both to zero. Now when I go to shoot at 300 yards, I know I have 9 inches of drop, so I adjusted my elevation turret to 3 (3" of adjustment at 100 yards is 9" of adjustment at 300 yards) and I will be shooting dead on. It could not be easier.

Wow where to start, Nice verry nice, mounted on a encore 270. and loving it. I looked a long tine for the right scope,, Verry clear-- Nikoplex crosshairs, out of the box at night ( black out ) looking at the nebors house 60 yds out just his interior light on scope was clear- cross hairs were visable-great light retencion. I will buy Nikon again.
Now my selling points, Eye relief is good, at 4 or 12 no readjusting to match scope, length is longer than most - looks sharp, clear, basic- no elavation etc. not needed most shots will not wate for you. I am glad I went with Nikon and will do so again

This rifle scope is an alternative to the $500 M-308 Nikon is offering. Set your scope to 11X power and use Hornady 168gr BT ammo and the shots are right on for 200, 300, 400, 500, 600yds. I have owned two other Nikon scopes and the app they offer on the iphone is precise. I have added a photo to the gallery of the screenshot for others who are interested. I'm not going to spend $500 on something that I could get for $200. Even the least expensive Nikon scopes ($169) are crystal clear and hold up to my 300wsm and 308. This model is no different. Thanks Nikon for offering the app so that I can shop smart and SAVE!!!

mounted on an AR-15, nikon is the clearest scope I have looked through, I would rather the scope covers be flip up but I can live with it.

This is my second Nikon Prostaff 4-12-40. I have one mounted on a Marlin XT-17VR 17 hmr, and I am very happy with it.
I dont have better scopes to compare, but I can say it has a very clear view and looks sturdy and well made.
I plan to mount this one on a Weatherby Vanguard .308.
I would have given 5 stars, but this one came with a litlle mark on it, without the paint. I dont know if it came like that from the factory, but it looks it did.
By the way, mine is made in the Philipines.
One comment: even though it has no parallax adjustment, you have to adjust (very little) the eye-piece when you go up to 12x

I have the pleasure of owning many rifle scopes from cheap too fairly expensive and the Nikon in my opinion is the best for your buck out there. The Optic's are among the best I own. Nikon makes it available for even the Blue Collar person. Thank's Nikon

I like it so far, great scope for the money. I have it on a 30-06, holds center well. I have not used it with low light to see how it performs. I will update after first hunt.

I own a Nikon ProStaff in the 3x9.....couldn't be happier with the clarity and quality of both scopes. Which is why I ordered this scope. I installed on a .17 HMR but, instead of buying one of the cheaper scopes that are marketed for this caliber, I chose another Nikon. Gives me the flexibility down the road in case I want to sell the rifle and keep the scope. I wouldn't hesitate to move it to my .22-250 varmit rifle.
