This review is from: Nikon Prostaff 3-9 X 50 Matte Bdc Riflescope (Sports)
If you're looking for quality and performance, as is so often the case, you get what you pay for- and this is definitely it.
Outstanding scope through and through. Just a quick note on mounting and my own personal experience with a Savage 111 FCPX 30-06 rifle. You will need to buy a "1 Piece Standard Scope Base" in order to mount it on the rifle as the existing mounts are too far apart for the Nikon Prostaff Scope. I bought a "Redfield 1-Piece Standard Scope Base Savage 110-116 Flat Rear Long Action Gloss" from a Company named Midway USA ([...]) part #447963 for $21.99. Go ahead and throw your old scope(s) away, yes-- throw it away--and dont look back, you'll never go back to any other scope (and I have had a few) after you zero this baby in.... After a quick laser bore sighting, (which I did in my kitchen, and then at the range-...3 quick shots at 50 yards- I was "in the bull's eye but not in the orange) With a minor adjustment for elevation, I was then "Dead on" groupings in the bull's eye (2 in the orange) from 50 yards. I moved my target to 100 yards and 3 more shots grouped in the bull's eye again (2 in the orange). I can't wait to find a range with 2, 3,4 or even 500 yards to see how the BDC works. The Nikon Prostaff is a must have for the perfectionist and I pressume if you're a hunter, with this scope properly zeroed in, your game wont stand a chance at 100 yards or perhaps even further! |
