Very well put together and excellent optics. It was what I was hoping it would do.I am in the Northeastern Minnesota with a lot of rain and very cold weather and the the scope performed great without any fogging. I hope that this scope will last a long time.

The web page for this scope shows the BDC reticle. I had to send mine back, no BDC reticle and no way to exchange it for the BDC.

Scope did not come as advertised. Does not have a bullet drop compensator (BDC) reticle.
Prostaff series comes in both rimfire and centerfire versions. I wonder if they are selling the rimfire version as the centerfire version of the prostaff series. Not good. The rimfire versions are set to be parallax free at 75 yards, centerfire at 150 yards. The centerfire version is also built more robustly to handle more recoil than the rimfire version. I am not pleased with the discrepancy. Will not buy from this seller again.

Best Bottom Line Scope,
This review is from: Nikon Prostaff RealTree Riflescope 3-9x40 (RealTree Camo) (Sports)
The Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 riflescope is generally a very good deal, and has become my default scope. I have used it on everything from a .22 LR to a .30-06 Springfield, and the scope seems to hold zero without any trouble. The overall construction of the Prostaff is very solid, and it is bright and clear at all levels of magnification. It compares favorably with the Bushnell Elite line in this regard, and approaches the standard of the much more expensive Nikon Buckmasters series.
This is a basic scope, of course. A coin or screwdriver is required to adjust windage and elevation (see customer photo). You can also see one of the internal screw-heads when you look into the eyepiece at just the wrong angle. Those are the only complaints that I can offer, and both are issues of design rather than construction. The list price of this Prostaff was originally over $200, but they can be had for between $100 and $150 now. I have been told by retailers that the prices had dropped dramatically in anticipation of a competitive offering by Redfield at the $200 price point. Whatever the reason, a Prostaff is a steal at $100, and more than adequate for most of my shooting.

Love this scope,

This is the finest scope I have every owned in this price range. It is extremely bright, has 3.6" eye relief which will every hunter/shooter will appreciate if they any gun with a good recoil. The 1" tube makes finding scope rings very easy. Going from 3x to 9x is smooth and effortless. I like the Nikoplex reticle which is similar to a duplex reticle. This is where your cross hairs are larger on the outside edge of the view and fine toward the center.
I like a rifle scope that is (1)easy to use and (2)sturdy and reliable in the elements and (3)comes with a good lifetime warranty. This scope has all three and is a perfect tool for the hunter who doesn't want to spend a bundle for a scope yet wants quality.

I am very happy with the Nikon Prostaff Scope but I think my next Scope will be the Nikon Omega BDC
