5.0 out of 5 stars Works with Coolpix L11 also
I was taking a chance when I ordered this as it doesn't mention the Coolpix L11. So I'm letting folks know it does work on that camera.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cable I received was not the Nikon UC-E6
The cable shipped to me was not the Nikon UC-E6 cable. The cable that was sent to me did not work with my Nikon camera. I notified the company and they reshipped the same incorrect cable. Would not order with them again. I ordered the Nikon UC-E6 cable through the NikonMall online which I wish I did to begin with.

1.0 out of 5 stars This is not a UC-EC cable!, August 31, 2011

Although the description says this is a UC-E6 cable and it is shipped in a box that says Nikon UC-E6, what you get is UC-E4 which does not fit the S3100 as described. If you need a UC-E6, type that into the search heading in Amazon and you'll find many options that are actually the correct product. Good luck!

I was pleased to find this was supplied in Nikon packaging. I'd assumed that for this price it would be an OEM knockoff (generally not a problem).

Advice: pay the couple of extra bucks and buy direct from Amazon or at least "fulfilled by Amazon." Save yourself the hassle.

This is a Nikon proprietary cable that works with many Nikon models.
The lead warning for handling the cable is a little alarming.

We need so many special cables these days. I wish camera, phone, media player, etc. products would all use the same connector to connect them to a computer, but alas, they don't and I since I travel with a bundle of these things, I must travel with a bundle of cables as well. I wanted to be able to charge my Nikon camera from my laptop computer to avoid carrying its AC charging adapter. The local camera store wanted $19 for the USB-Nikon cable, and this one was less than $5.

I ordered it, it came in the main in a few days, it works. The only thing I wish were different was that I could have purchased a shorter, maybe 1 foot long, cable instead. That would make my bundle of "travel cables" smaller. But it's just fine and the price is certainly right.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works for Nikon Coolpix L18, January 15, 2011

Though not mentioned in the description as one of the cameras supported by this cable, the Nikon Coolpix L18 uses the UC-E6 cable (as per the Nikon Coolpix L18 Manual and the Nikon website) which this item indeed is. I suggest you check your camera manual for the type of cable used rather than the model it usually supports. This cable is listed several times on Amazon by the same seller. One listing ships directly from the seller, United Integral, and one ships via amazon also from United Integral(slightly higher price but with Prime it comes out to about the same). I chose to ship via amazon just in case I encountered any problems. The cable came in original Nikon packaging. I have had no problems with this purchase.

This cable was an exact copy of my missing cable. It worked exactly like it should.
Always the skeptic, I was concerned that there would be something wrong or that the cable would not be the same. But it was a perfect replacement! And it arrived within two days!

1.0 out of 5 stars Product is defective, April 24, 2011

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Nikon UC-E6 Replacement USB Cable for Coolpix 2100, 2200, 3100, 3200, 4200, 5200, 8400 & 8800 Digital Cameras (Electronics)
This cable is defective at connecting a Nikon P7000 to a computer. A UC-E6 is supposed to be able to do this. When the OEM Nikon cable is used it works fine and the P7000 is recognized as a portable device. When the aftermarket cable is used there is a "device driver" error." And "device unplugged" notice. "Jiggling" the connectors doesn't help.
The cable is USB A on one end and a custom connector on the other end. Upon receipt I noticed that there was excessive nylon moulding on the USB A end blocking the conductors. I removed this with a razor blade. This did not help.
I used a multimeter and optical microscope to check whether the wires are paired correctly to the cable ends. The four pins on each end are correct, with the following signal lines the same for both the Nikon and aftermarket: 1-1, 2-2, 3-4, 4-3, and ground shell.
In order to determine whether the problem was at the USB A end or the custom end, I connected a USB A extension cord with known good ends. All four signal lines work correctly with the multimeter. When this was connected, the computer still refused to recognize the camera. Thus the problem is in the small end, not the USB A end. The small end shows no obvious problems, and thus there is no simple fix that can be performed that can make it work correctly. It can be noted the aftermarket small connector is generic, and has 8 conductors. The OEM Nikon connector is special, and has 5 conductors molded into the shell with 3 spaces occluded.
