It's a great DVD and rather inexpensive. It's a nice walk through of the basic camera features in 30 mins, but left me wanting to know more. It would have been nicer if they included the content from the other "more advanced" DVD and just charged a bit more. While I enjoyed the DVD and would recommend to someone looking for a very beginner overview of the camera, I would have liked the basics with a few of the more advanced features.

Good way to get basic knowledge of how to operate a Nikon D40 and D40x.

This instructional video, is about as interesting and fun as having dental work.It has no charisma whatsoever, and the teacher is truly an old fuddy duddy. So many things could have been done so well, and were not!

I didn't realize just how basic this video would be. It basically only talked about using the "auto" settings. I want to venture away from using auto. It's a well made video and would be fine for someone who's unfamiliar with digital cameras.

OK, I read the manual that came with the camera, in between naps. Manuals are real snoozers. Then I read another better written book on my camera - less naps, but it didn't really help that much.
Then I watched this DVD. It's a little short, but filled with things that made me want to go out and try. I've watched this several times over the last few months and I think it's made me take better pictures - hundreds and hundreds and hundreds - had to buy an external hard drive. Now I have a really great screen saver that I sit an watch for hours - no commercials.

I find this DVD very helpful and very informative specially for the first time user of Nikon D40, D40X & D60. I would suggest to everyone who has these camera or planing to have one to look into this DVD.

If you have no idea how to use your camera, this is a great DVD. If you sort of have an idea how to use your camera, or you know how to read an instruction book, then get a more advanced book or DVD. This will bore you with simple instructions like how to take a picture, how to focus, how to use the flash, etc.
