I ordered this product to use on two canvas coats. The product was easy to use. Just put the articles of clothing in the washing machine, add the recommended amount of the product, and wash. The treated items can be dried in the dryer on low heat, or allowed to hang dry. I dried mine in the dryer on low heat. There was no oder present on the coats after treating. The color and texture of the fabric was unchanged after treating. I am pleased with the water repellency I got as a result of using this product. I will definately purchase again. Note: I pre-washed the coats with the Nikwax Tech wash before applying the water repellent.

Product worked as intended, bringing back waterproofing on my canvas and cotton garments. Two drawbacks: 1) the product leaves a chemical/waxy smell on the garments, which does not go away. 2) the product leaves a noticeable waxy residue as well, especially on my canvas coat. Overall a good product.

I bought this for a cotton-shell rain parka and, sure enough water rolls right off of it now after using this product. If you follow the instructions, it will work as advertised. The only complaint I have is that it does leave a residual smell, but that goes away after a week or two––especially if you are actively wearing your newly waterproofed item. I'd also recommend throwing your garment into the dryer, as the product will set into the fabric better and last longer.

This product works very well and is easy to use. I will warn you however, that there is a difference in how much is used based on the type of washing machine you have. A top loading washing machine took the whole bottle for the one load. As I was just resealing a trench coat it was worth it. But if I had more to do, I would have needed another bottle.

I've read reviews that talk about a smell or a change in the look of the garment. My experience couldn't have been any different. The secret is to FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS EXACTLY. You must make sure that there is no detergent residue in your washing machine before you use it. I ran an empty load to rinse out the machine first.

When I used it on my Carhartt jacket, it worked exactly as advertised. There was no smell and no residue. I also just had to recently wash my jacket because I rubbed up against the bottom of a boat and got some bottom paint on sleeve. I was worried that washing the coat would mean having to re treat it. But I found that it still works great. Now don't get me wrong, my jacket didn't become a rain slicker. But it did eliminate the sponge like behavior that the jacket had out of the box.

I bought this to treat a favorite unlined cotton jacket that would suck up drops of water like a sponge and instantly soak me to the skin. The Nikwax was easy to use in my front-load washing machine, following the instructions. I air-dried the jacket outdoors and the smell disappeared. Then I gave the jacket a quick tumble dry to remove creases. The jacket felt the same as before, not stiff or "coated". Performance with water is much improved. A light sprinkling now rolls off, and more concentrated rain takes a while to get all the way through. As another reviewer mentioned, results depend on the looseness of the cotton weave. I wasn't expecting a miracle, so I'm happy that the jacket is now water resistant. I have enough left for a second application.

I bought this to waterproof a cotton jacket to wear to Iceland, where weather is unpredictable and can require a raincoat at a moment's notice. I couldn't find a cute raincoat, so I just decided to waterproof a jacket I had instead. Works like a charm. I stayed warm and dry.

I've now used up most of the bottle on various garments with extremely mixed results. On some cotton rip-stop pants and a hat, it worked a treat; on another cotton jacket with a coarser weave, it had absolutely no effect whatsoever on the outside (the lining beaded up nicely after treatment). On the latter, the competing ReviveX spray-on treatment worked perfectly.

This product is easy to apply and I have sometimes found it to be effective, but not knowing whether it's going to work on any particular fabric without actually trying it is a large drawback for me. If you get this, you'll need to test a spot on each garment to see if it's effective before washing it in.

I used this to treat our shower curtain on a regular basis and it keeps the water from collecting on it and keeps from molding.
