Perhaps the product itself would work but the applicator will ruin your suede shoes.

The waterproofing is working well, and I'm glad to have it so I can wear my suede boots in Oregon's temperamental weather.

I was happily surprised by how well it protects, waterproofs, and snowproofs the leather.

I love this product. This winter I bought myself a pair of suede boots. I have really put them through their paces with all the snow and salt we had here in Chicago. I got tired of always washing off the unsightly salt stains every time I came inside, so I finally ordered the Nikwax. This waterproofing product was a little bit of a hassle to apply-it took more steps than I thought it would-but it was worth it. When I wore my boots out in the salt and snow I found them a whole lot more waterproof, and the salt stains were easy to brush off when my boots dried. It delivered as promised. My recommendation- apply the Nikwax as soon as you buy your suede boots or shoes. I didn't right away and now I wish I had! It would have saved me a lot of aggravation in the long run.

I was hoping this was a spray, for ease of use. It is not, but still works great for Ugg/Emu/Bear Paw suede boots.

It's time I give this product some credit. When I was 14 I bought a pair of hiking boots from REI for around $200.00 with my own money and I am still using them this season, as I have four seasons per year for 10 years. Sadly the boots are wearing out, but thanks to regular applications of this stuff they are still waterproof!

Some tricks to using this stuff:
1. Follow the directions, the first time I applied it, I didn't clean the boots well enough and it didn't bind.
2. Apply regularly, get on a routine of once per season, or every six months. Don't wait until you start to feel wetness in your boot. This was my friend's strategy and didn't get the same results I did.
3. Maintain the boot, check where the boot material binds to the sole. I was having some leakage and noticed that there was a spot where the sole separated from the material, some shoe goo fixed that.

For a few extra bucks I extended the life of my boot to the point that I should probably get them resoled thanks to this stuff.

This is the first time I have purchased a suede waterproofing product. I've used Nikwax for smooth leather with great results before. To apply the product you have to squeeze the bottle to get the product to enter the sponge applicator. I had to squeeze fairly hard many times during application. It is advisable not to overuse product or squeeze too hard during application. It can get messy. Make sure you have rags handy and apply in a place where spills are not an issue. Brush with the grain of the suede to get a good application. I also needed to use a suede brush to bring the nap back to a normal look. After application there were dark spots you could see at different angles when the light hit the boots. After brushing with a suede brush this effect was minimized. The waterproofing is working well, and I'm glad to have it so I can wear my suede boots in Oregon's temperamental weather.

I do think this is a good product and I'm glad I purchased it. I would suggest to the manufacturer to make the sponge applicator easier to apply product without feeling like you will spill all over or not get enough product onto the sponge for application.

I used this on a new pair of hiking boots with medium tan nubuk leather. Used as directed the sponge applicator completely flattened and darkened the nape so that it looks like regular smooth dark brown leather. I believe it flattened the nape because of the applicator. I also tried Obenaufs pump silicone spray (for suede and other items) on a casual but dressier pair of very light beige suede shoes; it did not flatten out the nape but left them a darker tan with a somewhat uneven dirty look and the original vibrancy of the brushed leather was no longer there. Both repelled water. If your concern is just water repellency either will work and both are environmentally safe. If you prize the original new look of nubuk or suede you are better off not applying any after market waterproofing agent, especially on lighter colored leather. Just brush and clean as needed and wear something else for wet and muddy conditions.

I purchased this product to treat one pair of Kalso Earth ballet flats - the ONLY pair of winter shoes I have in Nubuck. The REASON I purchased this particular product is/was that it's free of toxins and the applicator is not full of warnings to "wear gloves" or "spray [for spray-on products] in an open space," etc. The PROBLEM is that I don't think it really works. When I'd finished treating this pair of shoes, I noticed that the "nap" characteristic of Nubuck (or suede) was "flattened," so the shoes look like dull-finished, worn-out leather. I purchased (at a local shoe emporium) containing a cleaning eraser bar and a brush. I hope these two items work to restore the natural look of Nubuck.

After applied, this Nikwax provided great protection for my Hi Tec Altitude 4 hiking boots.
Will buy again when needed.

I used this on a pair of Nubuck Keen shoes and it really works well. It did darken the leather maybe one shade, but water beads off of my shoes very aggressively and I know this will keep the winter salt from damaging an expensive pair of shoes.
