Very Tasty, Quick Low-Fat Meal,

This review is from: Nile Spice Chicken Flavored Vegetable Soup, Low Fat, 1-Ounce Cups (Pack of 12) (Grocery)
Nile Spice Chicken Flavored Vegetable Soup, Low Fat, 1-Ounce Cups (Pack of 12) is a great tasting item for someone who needs something they can fix quickly at home or work.TIP: Instructions recommend letting the soup sit for 5 minutes before eating. I suggest 10 is better if you want the noodles and veggies to be soft. Aldente'... go with 5 minutes. Expect that either way you'll be having HOT soup and the mealtime from the time you mix it until you finish eating it may be as long as 30 minutes. I like the flavor of this soup and the spiral noodles are fun. For me the taste gets better with the addition of a sprinkle or two of seasoning salt. Served with your favorite crackers, this is a fast, tasty meal for lunch or snack. NOTE: My second favorite flavor of the Nile Spice Soups is their Minestrone (strong tomato flavor) followed by the Lentil. All of the soups benefit from sitting a bit longer than the recommended time for best flavor development.

This is a healthy alternative to those ramen noodles that come in a cup. The serving size is about ½ that of the typical ramen noodles but the calories are 1/3 (110 vs 330) and if you look at the calories from fat (15 vs 130) things get even better.Sodium is the one thing I would like to see less of 670mg/serving however keep in mind that this is still less than the ramen type cups of soup. I keep this and several other variety of Nile Spice soups at my desk. They are great for when there is just no time for lunch or when I need a quick snack.

This is a pretty good soup-- I always wait longer than the 5 minute recomended wait time. It is a little too much all in one cup. A few less "exrtas" and a few more noodles would be great! Still very good for an instant lunch and at a great price.

This soup taste great and is a healthy alternative for lunch. I carry some containers with me to the office for an easy lunch. To prepare it, all you have to do is heat some water, pour it in the cup, let it sit for 5 minutes, then enjoy! However, Amazon needs to have better quality control on the freshness of this product they keep in their warehouse stock. The expiration date on last case sent to me happened three months after I received it. Otherwise, I would have given it 5 stars.

I am a new fan of Nile Spice soups and this one, while not my favorite, is pretty good and has a nice flavor. Like all the others, it is extremely easy to make. Boil water, add to cup, stir and let set 8-10 minutes. The soup stays very hot for a long time (even after 20 minutes it was still very hot), so don't worry about that, let it set and cook thoroughly for the best flavor. If you're watching your sodium intake, these may not be the best choice, but if you are careful and balance things out over a day, these make a great light lunch or snack and are very good, especially on a cold winter's day. Tip: shake the container a few times before opening, after adding the boiling water, stir around edges to mix well, let set at least 8 minutes.

I love both the Nile chicken flavored and black bean soups. I have been purchasing them for years at a local grocery store that recently stopped carrying the chicken flavored. So I checked Amazon and was thrilled to find out I could order 12 of each of the flavors for less than I paid at the grocery store AND have them delivered FREE to my home using standard shipping.I have the soups at home or take them with me in my suitcase for a quick convenient and inexpensive meal in my hotel room. As another review said, it is important to follow the directions about letting the soup sit for at least 5 minutes or longer depending upon your taste.

Great flavor, great noodles, throw some ritz crackers in there and voila! a great snack or counterpart with a sandwich for lunch.

This is the worst soup i have ever tried, will not buy again. The worst part is that there's barely any soup in there. |
