5.0 out of 5 stars Confessions of a Soupaholic!
Nile Spice soups are amazingly good, and the Potato Leek Soup is one of the best.

Soup is my favorite comfort food, and this particular soup is like a nice, yummy, hot bowl of attitude-adjustment! You just can't be in an angry, stressed-out mood after enjoying it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Quick+Easy. Tastes generically good. Some may not like it.
Really easy to make: Just add hot/boiling water and wait 5min (I recommend 8). I thought it tasted fine.

I only give 3 stars more as a caution really...because my brother had it and he REALLY didn't like it. Now my mom had it, and she called saying she would never get it again... I think she may have actually used the word "nasty." Her call prompted me to...

A great way to have it at home is to pour the mix into a regular bowl, add extra boiling water, and some bits of your favorite leftovers -- it's heaven!

Really easy to make: Just add hot/boiling water and wait 5min (I recommend 8). I thought it tasted fine.

I only give 3 stars more as a caution really...because my brother had it and he REALLY didn't like it. Now my mom had it, and she called saying she would never get it again... I think she may have actually used the word "nasty." Her call prompted me to try one myself, so I just did and I didn't think it deserved that negative hubbub. It was regular soup. In fact I thought it was pretty good. Also the mom and bro (and I) LOVED the couscous parmesan flavor...so it's not like their taste buds are just plain screwed up. So if you're buying for a group be warned that some may just not like it for mysterious reasons.

Some Specifics:
- not chunky veggies
- vegetarian
- mildly thick consistency (like smoothie almost)
- good
- no Organic symbol/notice anywhere

You'll never confuse this with a good homemade soup, but it's quick, convenient, and only 110 calories.

Just don't add the boiling water to their recommended fill line. If you do, you wind up with nothing more than flavored hot water. Instead, stop one inch below the top, stir, wait eight (not five) minutes, and you'll have a very pleasant, spicy brew.

Great soup at a great price. I rated this a 4 rather than a 5 only because the flavor is good but not amazing. I probably just needed to add some salt and realize that for this price, the flavor is amazing.

One other note about this: the serving size isn't huge. This is a soup + add your own salad/sandwich/something to make a meal on its own.

1.0 out of 5 stars YUCKY!, June 6, 2009

Don't waste your money. This stuff has the texture of fine sand and the taste to match. Yes, I made it as per directions. I was only going to put "YUCKY" in this review but people need to know to avoid this "food" (which is a stretch for the imagination).

this is my fav cheap lunch. don't add too much water or it gets watered down tasting. i add boiling water but really only wait about 2 minutes and it tastes fine. sometimes i add peas or carrots or even a potato to make it more of a "meal"

Well, its in the brand name, but they do mean it. This is spicy. NOt the creamy leek and potato soup you're used to. Has pieces of carrot and tomato. Some would like it. But not those wanting a real leak and potato.

They are all good, except this one: It isn't a real 'cream of potato' style soup, but an ultimately failed attempt to make it taste that way. This is the only type I wouldn't buy again.

4.0 out of 5 stars I like this, but don't love it, December 23, 2011

Like the corn version, which I prefer over this, the dry ingredients don't seem to mix with the hot water very well. Once it's done, though, it's quite tasty. A bit blander than the corn, so I usually add some black pepper to it. A nice option to keep around since it's quick to make and doesn't need refrigeration.
