These delectable rancheras harken back to Alejandro's 1999 CD, "Mi Verdad", and follows a similar mold, even to having a sound-alike to the award-winning "Loco" in its 5th track, "Mujer". Among the other similarities would be "Dejame" vs. "Amante Torero".
"Niña Amada Mia" is the theme song of a popular telenovela of the same name, and it is always a coveted prize for a singer to get a TV "soap" theme song, for its huge audience and nightly exposure, and has been a feather in the cap of other greats like Juan Gabriel and Alejandro's legendary father, Vicente.

Like "Mi Verdad", this CD was produced by Pedro Ramirez, who also did many of the arrangements, and every song is smooth and lovely, with terrific musicianship throughout. The insert booklet has the lyrics to all the songs, and here is where the comparison to "Mi Verdad", which had seven of the best photos of this stunningly handsome singer ever taken, comes to a screeching halt. "Niña" has as its centerpiece an inexplicable closeup of the back of Alejandro's head, indicating some mystical significance that is no doubt lost to most of his adoring female fans.
The sound is excellent, and total time 41'36.

Alejandro's exquisite voice, which reminds me somewhat of the velvety richness of Mexico's famed idol Javier Solis, is remarkable in its power, breath control, and the sensitivity of his interpretations. Though there is nothing particularly groundbreaking in this recording, it is superb music, beautifully performed, and a marvelous addition to any CD collection of Mexican music.

Nina Amada Mia is magnificent on every level! Each of Alejandro Fernandez' productions has a unique flavor as he continues to explore his musical creativity. In Nina he shares with us the beauty of his beloved musica mexicana, a more traditional offering in which his strikingly resonant voice flows like a river of velvet silk. You do not need to understand Spanish to feel the joys, sorrows, and passions conveyed through his inspired delivery. My favorite tracks are Dejame, Matalas, Por que no estas conmigo, ... well, why bother to list them all? Nina brings me joy.

While Alejandro experiments magnificently with other fusion sounds (see ORIGENES), this CD shows the pure beauty of traditional Mexican ranchera music. All the songs are excellent, in the style of his earlier works but better because of the maturation of his voice.

ALEJANDRO IS THE BEST SINGER AND THE SONGS AND THE LYRICS ARE AS ALWAYS SO BEAUTIFUL..... HIS VOICE!! HIS NOTES! IT'S A GREAT CD!

IN THIS ALBUM ALEJANDRO FERNANDEZ IS GOING BACK TO THE STYLE THAT HIS FANS WANT. I'TS A COMBINATION OF THE ALBUMS "QUE SEAS MUY FELIZ" AND "MI VERDAD". HE BRINGS TO LIFE AND ATTRACTS A WHOLE NEW GENERATION WITH THIS STYLE OF MUSIC.

Como fan de Alejandro Fernandez lamento mucho que este disco se haya quedado en el camino. Pareciera como si este disco lo hubieran hecho a lo loco al ahi se va solo por contratos que se establecen con una casa disquera y las reglas que se toman. Este disco es a lo que yo llamo un disco relampago. En ciertas canciones los arreglos musicales sobresalen y es por eso que las letras son opacadas. Alejandro sigue teniendo una voz privilegiada de las mejores que ay en estos momentos en America Latina pero este disco no ofrece nada nuevo. Sin duda su disco anterior 'Origenes' se lleva por mucho esta nueva produccion de 'El Potrillo'. Alejandro siempre ah sido un cantante que evoluciona y se arriesga en sus producciones discograficas pero esta vez se quedo en el camino. Creo que es hora de darle oportunidad a los jovenes compositores que estan afuera esperando a quien alguien les abra la puerta y no necesariamente tienen que ser Mexicanos porque la musica no tiene fronteras.

Hmmm Mexican music. Very pasionate, lots of guitars and trumpets, haunting melodies which change from crying to celebrating. If that's what you're after, then this may for you.
Alejandro is one of the best, if not the best.
I sort of like it, but now the more I hear it, its really growing on me, or getting to me. Either way its beautifully produced, sung and holds a clear full sound directly from the latin heart.
