Nina has had enough!

What makes Nina mad? Lots of things--lots of little, everyday things, frustrations that all children will recognize. But Nina knows how to speak her mind and that makes her feel much better. In a series of humorous vignettes, Hilary Knight, the artist who brought the enormously successful Eloise to life, applies his magic to a text by veteran children's book writer Steven Kroll, and brings to life a spunky character who will show young readers how to articulate their feelings.

Editorial Reviews

Review

Your kid will find plenty to relate to in graphic-novelish vignettes about what bothers Nina.
—Parents

Nina is an Everychild with a hint of attitude. She certainly knows what pushes her buttons, and with their extensive experience writing for kids, her creators Kroll and Knight have touched upon the very things that make many children mad. Nina, drawn with affection and exuberance, should make lots of new, equally offended friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very good book December 19, 2012
Format:Hardcover
"When you don't know what I like, that makes me MAD!"

Well, there's a lot of things that make Nina mad, and this book goes through some of them, one-by-one. But, at the end of the book, it shows the young reader how to not just get mad, but to express it, so that it can be dealt with.

The book itself is part of the Toon Into Reading series, and is a Level 2 (grades 1-2) book. Overall, I found it to be a pretty good book. The lesson is simple, but does not overwhelm the story, and any child can sympathize with Nina's problems. The illustration work is very good (done by Hilary Knight, the author of the Eloise books), and my little reader loved Nina antics. She thinks that it's a very good book, and so do I!

5.0 out of 5 stars Helps Develop Emotional Intelligence September 7, 2012
Format:Hardcover
This book was a great resource for helping my preschooler develop his vocabulary for explaining how he feels when he gets mad. The situations that Nina finds herself in are both humorous and realistic. And even though the protagonist is a girl, her situations were universal enough that my son found himself instantly relating to the situations that mad Nina "mad."

I purchased this book because it was one of my favorite books when I was a child and I wanted to share it with my two boys (ages 3 and 6). They LOVE the book too! I think this books really validates the frustrations that we all feel as children!! The illustations are GREAT too!
