Most of the car books I've read are either coffeetable books with photographs or children's books. This is an excellent bedtime fiction book on cars. Each of the nine stories take the reader to a different aspect of the auto world. From the get-go, the author connects with the reader by sharing his and his father's real time experiences with cars. Considering the fact that an American goes through an average of 35 cars over a lifetime, these stories give the reader a deep perspective on our relationship with our vehicles. I believe this well penned book, mashed with auto history, auto technology and human emotions,is a nice additon to any car buff's library.

In this age where we are constantly being introduced to new technology that was considered science fiction only a decade ago, one wonders while reading some of the stories in this book, how soon the author's descriptions of car technology will become reality. What seems far-fetched now could be considered normal in a short matter of time.

I enjoyed the human element to the stories, some of which seemed autobiographical in nature. From the author's sweet proposal to his wife to the description of his late father's career as a dolmush (upscale shared limousine) driver in Istanbul, the reader appreciates his great love of cars and family. Intending to read one story, I ended up reading the book in one sitting and enjoyed the variety of the stories.

The author seems to have traveled the world doing background research for the book, which is evident in the detail. The reader gets a sense of his wonderment and also shares in the delight of how the stories unfold.

One does not have to necessarily be a car enthusiast to enjoy this book, as the stories speak to us all about human interaction, relations and empathy. I am going to share this book with my wife and kids as I think they will also appreciate the stories.
