4.0 out of 5 stars excellent
Wow. I am shocked this got such lukewarm reviews. With the blues, acid wha whas, sax and flutes, and songs that just tear, this is quite the early 1970s prog album

Its true Nine Days Wonder are German, and here is where this gets confusing: some people label all rock from that era from Germany Krautrock, and others are talking about Can, Faust, Neu, and Nine...

3.0 out of 5 stars Kinda cute
Well, this is the unreconstructed original German Avant Garde coffee house rock that you associate with Kraftwork and Faust. This album is rock oriented, with some strange vocal material "at first he was allowed to touch my bottom" (whatever the hell that is about) being a typical line on one track.

Wow. I am shocked this got such lukewarm reviews. With the blues, acid wha whas, sax and flutes, and songs that just tear, this is quite the early 1970s prog album

Its true Nine Days Wonder are German, and here is where this gets confusing: some people label all rock from that era from Germany Krautrock, and others are talking about Can, Faust, Neu, and Nine Days Wonder are not anything like those power towers. That goes to show, genre labels always, eventually, shoot you in the foot.

What they do remind me of is early Colosseum: that early steroid blues before Chris Farlow showed up. Nine Days is not that polished, but this actually gives them more balls--they are prog without really being self-aware of being so.

Either way, this is fun, driving music. Check it out.

But besides the strangeness, there is some very solid playing and this is quite entertaining, if not ughhh... weird....

But there again, thats the fun of it, and its all good stuff. Quite strong musical construction that perhaps inherits a bit from the early Zappa.

1.0 out of 5 stars They ripped off their name, June 25, 2009

The name "Nine Days Wonder" was taken by an indie rock band based in Michigan/Ohio during the late '80's and early '90's. This group is one of several who have since ripped off the name. Zero points for originality, fellas.
