kd easley's shorts June 11, 2010
Format:Paperback
Nine Kids of Trouble is a slim volume, but packed with satisfying and likeable shorts. One short, "Nothing Much Has Changed" introduces characters that will be featured in kd's new novel "Murder at Timber Ridge" now out in Kindle and shortly out in paper. Look for it! You will like it. Easley covers feminine vanity, marital discord, old loves, the problem of aging parents and the institutions that "house" them, and small town conservatism we've all grown up with (or should I say bore unwillingly). Writing shorts is an art few master. If you can write shorts than novels are no problem. Try KD's "Where the Dreams End." You won't be disappointed. Okay-I do have one beef. kd chooses the letter format in " Letters from Iraq." The format sets her up for telling the story rather than showing the story. The plot is great, but her choice of format undermines the plot. The rest are flawless.Nine Kinds of Trouble
