Eva Friedlander has a story to tell and Mickey Goodman tells it beautifully. There is a rich plethora of information here--from escaping work camps and the ravages of war in Hungary to finally pursuing the good life in Italy, then realizing a dream of coming to America and settling in Atlanta. This book tells the story of a 55-year marriage, blessed with productive work and marred with a husband's dalliances. Sordid truths emerge, but all the while intriguing and well written. It is a story of love, endurance, heartache, triumph and finally forgiveness. A must read.

I love to read, and I love people's personal stories. I was recently introduced to memoirs, and when this one was recommended by my book club I couldn't wait to read it. I was struggling in my marriage at the time and thought it would be interesting to read about someone else's struggles. Although the book does delve into the complications of marriage, there is an underlying theme that involved the holocaust, infidelity, and the effect female success can have on a male. What was really exciting was finding out that I could meet Eva Friedlander in person and hear her story firsthand. I have known no one who went through the holocaust, so meeting a survivor and knowing her incredibly moving story really hit home for me. I love fiction, but I do recommend this book to anyone who would like to read about 'the real thing'; a true life account of love, survival, and the effects of each.

From the moment I picked up "Nine Lives of a Marriage - A Curious Journey," I couldn't put it down. I was immediately hooked, first wanting to know how George and Eva Friedlander escaped the horrors of World War II in their beloved Hungary, then if and when they would achieve their dream of moving to and establishing a successful life in America. But what really captured my attention was discovering how Eva made a life and career for herself, despite the constant disapproval and competition she faced from her husband - especially in light of his longstanding infidelity. It is a story of ups and downs, success and failures, hope and heartbreak - and Mickey Goodman tells it beautifully.

This fascinating look at the life of Eva Friedlander is enthralling and well worth the read. Once I started, I couldn't put the book down. Mickey Goodman shows her talent with this well written, mesmerizing tale of love, war, and the bonds that keep a marriage together during the worst of times. Mrs. Friedlander is a very strong woman who has experienced a life like no other. I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for an engrossing true story with many twists of fate.

Once I began reading this engrossing story of Eva & George Friedlander I found it hard to stop. It opens with a rare glimpse of life during the Holocaust in Hungary, follows the young couple on their romantic sojourn to Rome, Italy after the war and ultimately on to an adventurous immigrant experience in America's South. I found this well written book packed with romance, scandal, and triumph. How Eva survives her tumultuous marriage is a testament to strength and fortitude.

She may have put up with the pain of blatant infidelity in her marriage, but Eva Friedlander has the last word by putting a lifetime of riveting experiences into perspective in this book. Mickey Goodman's writing adds a world of detail that makes Eva's story a worthy contribution to Holocaust literature as well as to books on dealing with infidelity.

this incredible, well written book by Mickey Goodman has all the qualities of a novel but is true. Mickey spent NUMEROUS hours
interviewing Eva,the subject of this book, to get as much information as she could after such a long passage of time after the
events that took place. After such a rich life of horrible memories during the holocost, her marriage to a brilliant man, and
their life in the center of the cultural life of America you wonder what else there is to explore. But her relationship with her husband
was a conundrum. How could she have stayed in such an adulterous relationship for so long? Even after reading this story the question
remains. I strongly urge you to read this unusual story.
