Fun Romp for Young Readers,

My daughter is just learning to read, so she can manage only the simplest text when reading a book herself. However, she still wants a good story that will hold her interest. "Nine Men Chase a Hen" was the perfect combination of silliness and simplicty for her to both manage the book on her own and to enjoy the aburd text and illustrations.

This is a delightfully zany start-to-read book, with few words, strong plot, rhyme, and even numbers that progress from one to ten. The conflict between the men and the hens alternates, back and forth, back and forth, and escalates until, finally, the hens win and peace is restored. The illustrations are fantastic and perfect! Funny!

I teach kids w/ special needs (MR and LD). This is a great book for developing phonemic awareness and for children to see rhyming words in pring. Very few words on a pg and funny illustrations.
