ANOTHER EXCUSE TO STAY UP LATE ABSORBING A TERRIFIC BOOK !,
This review is from: The Nine-Month Marriage (Conveniently Yours / Bravo Family) (Silhouette Special Edition, No 1148) (Paperback)
Abby has always adored Cash since she was a grubby kid. The night of her father's death, their relationship took a dramatic turn that left Cash beating himself up for getting her pregnant. He feels like a craddle-snatcher with the 15-years age gap between 'em. So he made an honest woman out of Abby & a mutual agreement that they'd reconsider their marriage after the baby's born. Abby may be a 21-year-old college gal, but she's one heck of a fighter when it comes to getting what she wants, and she's always wanted Cash. Their marital bliss starts going awry, as she's suspected all along, eversince - in the throes of labor pain - Abby confesses her love. Scared the pants out of him, Cash begins putting distance between him & Abby (emotionally & physically), even though he knows that he's hopelessly in love with his young wife. This book is romantic, heart-twisting at times, written wonderfully with smooth dialogues, believable characters, great chemistry & a very satisfying ending. The title & synopsis of this novel alone will grab your attention & keep your eyes stuck 'till the last word. I've read most of Ms Rimmer titles & she's never disappointed me so far !

Heartwarming and well worth the time to read - you'll be glad to add this title to your collection! The very first book in the (now 17 books long) Bravo Family series!
Description from the book back cover: BABY MINE ... Once upon a time, Abby Heller was a lovable, headstrong girl who idolized Cash Bravo. In her hero-worshipping eyes, the Wyoming rancher could do no wrong. But one urgent April night, Cash made a woman of Abby ... and Abby became pregnant. Cash cursed himself for stealing her innocence, and vowed to give their baby his name. Then he'd set sweet Abby free - to find herself a better mate. After all, when a man loved a woman, heartache was nothing ... but honour was all.

This book grabbed my attention on the first page and held it until the last. The attraction and tension between the man and woman in the story was spellbinding. Abby is a young woman in love with a much older family friend who will do anything but admit the love is mutual. But alas, he is unable to resist the temptation of his pregnant wife. This is the first of Ms. Rimmer's books that I have read and I look forward to reading the others.

Lame, flat ending,
This review is from: The Nine-Month Marriage (Hardcover)
A good ending could have saved this book. But no, Abby let Cash off the hook in seconds, after months (hours of torture for me) of pushing her away. Maybe Abby felt good about, but I didn't! Abby was pathetic with no pride. Her mother was about as annoying as they come. And Cash only revealed himself in the last couple of paragraphs. Actually, I'm surprised I even gave it three stars, but I usually leave an under three star rating to books that are too aweful to finish. If you think this book is good, you are missing a whole world of wonderful romances from wonderful authors. Here are a few: Linda Howard, Christine Feehan, Lori Foster, Lucy Monroe, and Karen Robards.

This was the very first of the now 32 and counting Bravo books, newly released for digital. (Although it seems pretty obvious that Rimmer initially intended this as only a trilogy about three cousins).I enjoyed most of the book. I liked the heroine. Everybody kept saying how great the hero was, but I didn't really see that for myself. I thought her mother was an horror, which is funny because she was an OK character in several later books. And I totally bought the history behind these people that all grew up together, because almost everything reminded them of earlier parts of their lives. But the last quarter of the book left me ticked off. I thought the hero was a complete a** and I didn't care for the heroine's response to that, and the HEA didn't balance it out for me. Rimmer doesn't disappoint often, and she remains an auto-buy for me. There are only two of the earlier Bravo books still to be re-relased in eformat, and I can't wait! |
