5.0 out of 5 stars A Truly Great Little Golf Book, December 23, 2004

This review is from: Nine Bad Shots of Golf (Paperback)
My faded (1961) copy of Jim Dante's 1947 "The Nine Bad Shots of Golf and What to Do About Them" is a gem! It's still available in reprints (1990). The scope is exactly what all beginning and most experienced golfers need and want: How to stop hooking, slicing, topping, pushing, pulling, smothering, shanking, skying, and sclaffing. The language is wonderfully straightforward. To hit a low ball, Dante says use one more (lower-faced) club, put nearly all your weight on the left foot, and dont't pivot. "These three things," Dante says, "are virtually all you can do." What if the green can't be approached by a run-up? Dante: "Well, that's just too bad."

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Golf Swing, September 19, 2010

This review is from: Nine Bad Shots of Golf (Paperback)
Simply the best book written on how to swing a golf club and hit the ball straight and smooth.
Written with a matter of fact and direct approach the text and diagrams leave you in no doubt about what you should do to swing a golf club, and WHY you should swing it that way.
I read this book more than twenty years ago, regularly shooting less than 80 with only a minimum number of games a year.
Highly recommended for those able to follow the advice given. I have bought another copy as my original copy was never returned after lending it to another golfer.

5.0 out of 5 stars The nine bad shots ingolf and what to do about them, November 10, 2008
After many years of golfing I find this book the one and only text which cover all the bad shots in golf. I refer to it frequently to straighen me out. An old 1947 original with update 1976. Still nothing in the swing has changed over the years.
