If you were expecting another "Solutions", this isn't it.

If you wanted a replay of "Freeze Frame Reality" or "Homes And Gardens", this isn't it.

If you're looking for aggressive EBM, this isn't it either.

2.0 out of 5 stars THE CHILD DEVIANT
I love Haujobb...but this is a verry weak release. IDM or wahtever there calling this kind of music...it's mostly just baoring. Not that it's lacking in talent or art direction or even in production....it's just plain baoring. If your new to Haujobb I strongly suggest you avoid this album and atsrt with 'Vertical Theory' or even 'Polarity'. This album is just not that...

If you were expecting another "Solutions", this isn't it.

If you wanted a replay of "Freeze Frame Reality" or "Homes And Gardens", this isn't it.

If you're looking for aggressive EBM, this isn't it either.

But if you want some truly beautiful minimal electronic music, this is a great palce to start.

Processed washes of sound, sparse rhythms, heavily modulated vocals and just general ambiences dominate this album. Songs and sounds float in and out of the stereo field. It's beautiful headphone chill-out music.

It's not especially catchy, though. Its sparseness makes for some wonderful sound and brilliant production, but the tracks do often lack hooks or melodic structures. Not ncessarily a bad thing, but if you were looking for something as catchy as "Journey Ahead", you're going to be surprised.

Speaking of surprises, the additional of female vocalist Vanessa Briggs adds an even more ethereal touch to the album, and highlights some of the most memorable tracks.

Cold, Spacy, brilliant. Just don't try to dance to it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The first glimpse of 21st century music, November 22, 1999
This review is from: Ninetynine (Audio CD)
Daniel and Dejan have done it again... they have managed to craft together a cold vision of the future and blend it with a particularly human touch. haujobb still creates that stark, tense atmosphere that make you just beg for more like all of their older releases. The only difference is that haujobb have taken ANOTHER new direction with situationally placed sounds.

5.0 out of 5 stars Minimalist ambient., December 3, 1999

This review is from: Ninetynine (Audio CD)
This album shows, probably more dramatically than any other I've heard, that the spaces _between_ sounds can be as important as the sounds themselves. If "Solutions For A Small Planet" contained a humming futuristic cityscape inside its sounds, then the sounds of Ninetynine define an entire, barren, coldly beautiful universe. As with most ambient, either it clicks for you or it doesn't, and this definitely works for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, May 4, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Ninetynine (Audio CD)
This is the latest cd from the extremely talented Haujobb, 'NinetyNine.'(Myer & Samardzic) This cd was supposed to be out in early 1999 under the title 'Copy, Cut, Cycle' until Myer scrapped that in favor of a different album 'NinetyNine' for unknown reasons. The last single 'less' is included on the cd, but in a very different form than any mix on the single. This cd takes a whole new twist and turn for haujobb. They have come from their first puppy influenced industrial cd 'Homes & Gardens' to their brilliant cold electro-industrial classic 'Freeze Frame Reality' to their last more subtle cyber-electro album 'Solutions For a Small Planet' to their idm/techno remix album 'Matrix' and finally to this their fourth full length release. This album's sound can be easily correlated to some of the other projects Daniel Myer has been working on in the last couple years, Cleen, Newt, the Architect, and Dots and Dashes. 'NinetyNine' is very much a drum and bass album with sparse rhythms and infrequent vocals. Sporadic beats cut through the bleeps, blops, and cold soft melodies. Some of the vocals are male and take the form of nothing more than samples used in the song, but in 'less' and 'overflow' they use the talents of guest female vocalist Vanessa Briggs. Those songs take on a more beautiful and serene yet cold and disheartening feel. They are my favorite tracks on the cd because of the emotion you can feel in Briggs vocals. I would liken the emotion she portrays to that of the vocals in Underworlds 'dirty epic.' Overall, i am in love with this cd, sure it definitely does not have any of the standard haujobb dance hits such as 'cleaned visions' or 'journey ahead' but I see it as a mature step in the evolution of one of the best electronic musicians of today. Myer has continually refined his sound and not gone stagnant like many electronic bands of today. This cd is perfect to become engulfed in late at night in a dark room or as just background music during work, study, play or party. It is both mellow and relaxing while still being intricately crafted using the perfect sounds. And as an added bonus it has an unlisted track which contains samples used on the cd!! This is a very nice bonus to anyone who is an electronic musician and a very courteous thing for Myer to do. This is a cd with the power to set a mood and I know it will remain in my cd player for a long time after.01. Haujobb - 06. Haujobb - les

5.0 out of 5 stars Quiet side of Haujobb., October 28, 2002

On first listen to this CD, I was taken back as to how different it was from their previous CD releases. After some adjustment, I opened my ears to find that this was prehaps Haujobb's finest hour thus far. OK, its light years away from the dark, and rythmic "SFASP", but it still contains the key musical elements of Haujobb, precussive samples, complex layered rythms, and samples from who knows where.
Ninetynine is the aftermath of the previous CDs, and is a total chill out session. Complete with the very lush "Overflow", and numerous instruments this is a must have for Haujobb fans who want to stay on the same planet, but move to another suburb.
GET IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars One the best albums of NinetyNine, November 21, 1999

I have heard a lot about Haujobb but I have only listened to a couple of their songs before buying this album. After hearing this album I am convinced that there music ranks as some of the best in the electonic music world. I am most impressed with the sampling technique and there complex arrangement of rhythm and texture. In songs such as "grounds" and "less" the samples are amazing. The way they isolated certain sounds and integrate them into a digital enviroment was amazing. Alot of other bands dabble in sampling but Haujobb seems to have mastered the art. The song "Grounds" is an example of the masterful use of texture and rhythm. Every sound seems to have its place among the slight hiss of static and the dominant beat. Real drum sounds float in and out of the throbbing bass and sound washes. In my opinion this song is the high point of the album along with songs like "less" and "doubleyou". The album is mostly instrumental but male and female vocals are masterfully used in many of the songs adding another texture and dimension to the songs. I was especially impressed by the vocals of Vanessa Briggs in songs such as "overflow" and "less". Basically this album is amazing and I highly recommend it to all fans of electronic music.

The more I play this cd, the more I fall in love with it! Haujobb produces really good music in this album. Im really not into the dark feel industrial music tends to have, yet I really like the artistic ability it has to blend sounds together and how artist put alot into the music. This group is perfect for me and is one of my favorites. I love this cd cause its the first I've heard that has this futuristic, clean, sharp and cold atmosphere to it, yet it mixes in vocals that give it a nice warm feel. I really like "less" as well as "99", and "creator" is real nice. but my personal favorite has to be "w", though all the songs in this cd are real good. I recommend this to anyone who has faith in electronic music as a real form of musical expression.

5.0 out of 5 stars Do Stars Shine or Burn?, March 7, 2001

This review is from: Ninetynine (Audio CD)
There are no words to describe it. The music ebbs, flows and washes over you. Male and female voices touch you gently. Beats pulsate, but never overpower. It's not EBM, or industrial, or even ambient or triphop. It merely IS. Not the logical next step from Solutions For A Small Planet, but instead three steps sideways into a colder, quieter world.

This cd will be the blueprint for the future of music, not now, but twenty years from now.

If you're looking for something like Freeze Frame Reality or Homes & Gardens, keep looking. But if you're looking for something that flows like cool clean water off a glacier, step inside the world of ninetynine.

5.0 out of 5 stars something different, December 21, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Ninetynine (Audio CD)
I first got into Haujobb with their newest release, Vertical Theory, the album really caught my attention even though it seemed very strange.

So after countless sessions listening to it, I decided to get a new Haujobb album figuring I would enjoy it.

This album had me scratching my head at first but after a couple listens it grew up me and now I love 2 Haujobb CDs.

Their style seems to change with every album as i'm seeing with my newest purchase, Polarity.

Haujobb is quite an amazing act. I look forward to gathering the rest of the albums and then searching for some of his side projects.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Future of Music is Here, June 12, 2000
This review is from: Ninetynine (Audio CD)
I shouldn't have to write this review, but as soon as I saw that some jerk gave it two stars, I decided I would. First of all, this album (although you may not believe me) retains the trademark Haujobb sound, which can be explained in one word. Cold. Everything I've heard by Haujobb is wonderfully chilling, even the harshness of Homes & Gardens. But this album is exceptional, beyond anything else imaginable. It's truly one of those albums that you'll never forget. Even if you dislike it the first time you hear it, stay with it, and it will grow on you. This truly is the next stage in the life of EBM.
