A firm favorite,

My 10 year-old son wanted a Ninja costume for Halloween, so after much effort I located this one, which was closest to his ideal. It was well made, although there were perhaps 14 pieces to the costume (balaclava, body suit, leatherette body armor, leggings and wrist guards), some of which required threading and knotting.

For a costume, this thing looks really neat. If your son is planning on wearing this for only a few hours on Halloween night, it's fantastic. Very dramatic, very sleek looking.
HOWEVER, there are some things you're going to want to keep in mind. 1- It's small. My son is the shortest in his class, I ordered a size up for him and the sleeves still didn't go all the way to his wrists. Same with the pants. Keep this in mind when picking a size. 2- The laces to tie up the leg cuffs, arm cuffs and chest plate are pretty cheep. Be careful while lacing them up. On Halloween night you may want to pack yourself an extra set of black laces just in case the ones that came in the package snap. Also keep in mind you'll be doing a lot of lacing every time your child wants to wear the costume as it isn't possible to put these on or take them off without them. 3- The black fabric is pretty thin. You might want to have your child wear a black turtleneck and/ or dark pants underneath or instead of the ones provided for the costume, especially if you'll be outdoors and the weather is chilly. 4- The imitation leather tunic promises not to wear well. The fabric tears easily, so keep that in mind if you're looking for a costume your child will spend multiple days playing in. 5- Make sure to note the written description because despite what the picture would have you believe, the costume does not come with gloves. It sounds like I'm being overly negative about this costume, but I want to assure you I am fairly pleased with it. For the price... I would have expected better quality. But it does look very sleek on my son and he is thrilled with it. I do wish I had known about the thinness of the fabric and the cheapness of the tunic before I had purchased it... that is why I can only give it 3 stars.

My 10 year-old had a different ninja costume in mind, but when I saw the reviews for that vs. this one - I talked him into getting this one. He was so glad I did!
I ordered a size 12-14 and it fit perfectly - so it does indeed run a little small. The "leather" parts really look good. The tunic has a bit of a metallic sheen that looks great under lights. The belt looked like it would be flimsy, but that Velcro held all night through trick-or-treating and many awesome ninja moves. All the "leather" pieces held their shapes well. We just replaced all the super-cheap laces that came with the costume with basic black ones. They were much easier to lace and held up well. We could also just loosen the shin and wrist guards and slip them off without having to unlace/relace. Couldn't do that with the original laces. We also added our own gloves. The actual suit and hood are made of very thin material - like most kids' costumes. He wore a t-shirt and thin long-johns underneath and was totally comfortable. In fact, he thought the suit was so comfy he wore it to bed tonight as pajamas! I gave it four instead of five stars only beacuse the laces are so flimsy and it didn't have gloves as pictured. But all in all this is one of my favorite costumes he's ever had, in terms of comfort, ease of motion and good looks. Turned out his friend bought the other ninja suit he originally wanted. Guess whose looked better? : ) 2115|R3SX4M7SR3MAS8;2115|R12WOXKLEUJLRF;2115|R3O6HRO7SNK0WT;
