"Real" Ninja Training,

= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Ninja Reflex (Video Game)
Ok, so I'm 17 and was bored so I thought I'd get a new game for my DS. I'm interested in ninja things like Naruto and so on and so I thought I'd try this thing out. First of all, the cover is a bit misleading in my opinion. I thought I'd be a tiny ninja character who would be jumping around using weapons here and there. I was wrong. The game turned out to be better than I expected.
As the game title suggests, you will play mini games and train in order to get "ninja reflexes". In these games, the main character is you. Your main goal is to complete your training/tasks given to you by this old dude called "Sensei" which means teacher in Japanese. You use your stylus to control your movements/weapons which are on the screen. There are six main categories/weapons in which you train. After completing in all the mini games in a level, you get to take a belt test. If you pass, you advance in rank/belt and get harder tasks. The difficulty of this game is easy at first but gradually gets a bit more tricky yet it's not too hard. It's one of those games that you get addicted to because you know you can go farther if you just concentrate. Some other cool bits include making your own ninja name. The more you excel, the more name options you recieve. My favorite parts so far are (in no particular order): 1. The music. It's oriental and relaxing yet most importantly, it's not annoying. In some parts of the training, you can hear trickling water and other neat things. 2. The graphics. They are not perfect yet they are not bad either. I despise low quality games and this one passed my personal test. 3. Sensei. He can be strange at times yet when he talks, it somehow feels like he's talking to you. Throughtout the game, he provides you with some "ancient" wisdom. If you pay attention to what he says and take it to heart, you may expand your mind a bit. 4. The meditation area. There is this section of the game that you can do at any time. It is the most "real" part of the training. Sensei will guide you through a meditation, telling you to close you eyes, how to control your breathing, and so on. I thought it was hilarious when he started saying "In" and then "Out" all slowly. Yes, I'm weird like that. Another part called Silent Meditation is when you click on a certain time limit. Sensei is silent until the time ends and slowly guides you out of the meditation. I have yet to actually do the meditation itself but I'll give it a shot. 5. Multiplayer mode. You can play with up to 4 people. All you need is one DS system and one game card. I played with my little brother this morning (and won. yay me!) and it was ok. In order to play other people, you must have a profile on the cartridge; you can make up to 4 profiles. When playing the game, a person's ninja name will pop up and they get to play. Then another name will pop up and you pass the DS along to that person so that they get a shot at it. Not exactly 100% handy but it works. So overall, this game is pretty awesome. It can be quite repetitive but that will only be slightly annoying if you play it a lot every day. This game is geared toward guys and I think little dudes will really be into the whole ninja stuff so grab one for your son or little brother. It will keep them quiet for a while. It sure did for me; I played it for two hours straight and this is coming from someone who hates sitting still for too long.

I got this game after trouble deciding whether I should or not. After I decided I will since my other DS games where kinda getting boring and I needed something *NEW* to play. I instantly got addicted to this game it's S0o much FUN !! I Love the Koi challenge but I'm not too good at Katana or Nunchuck. Honestly it could of been better with a little more Mini Games added to each category than what it actually gives but still find in alot of FUN and I think I would say BUY IT !!
