I have studied Kendo, Aikido, and Chin na kung fu. With that said; the techniques in this book are incredibly efficient. I highly reccomend it to anyone, though some of the concepts may be difficult to grasp if you are a beginner. Definately, definately worth the price.

I usually only buy Soke Hatsumi's books but I decided to check this out. It's a great book with lots of details to help beginners and advanced students through not just basic techniques but a lot of the things that can't be explained with pictures alone. Things like the proper attitude and mindset for training are covered. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a very good book ! Recommended!, May 22, 2008

This is one of the many good books on the subject of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu (Ninjutsu etc.). I recommend this book for beginner and advanced in this versatile art. Hatsumi Sensei's teachings have varied (nature of the art) and he has teached to many Shihan the art individually. It is wise to learn from as many teacher as you can so you can receive all those parts of the bigger picture (puzzle). This book is surely a very important piece to gather as information so crucial for any martial artist. The basics are pretty well explained. The picture series are a bit out of line with text sometimes but that is not a problem if you follow the text. I warmly recommend this book and wish the author lots of Gambatte ;D. I wish the author to write more books!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great!!!, February 12, 2011
This review is from: Ninjutsu: The Secret Art of the Ninja (Paperback)
This is a great book whether you are a beginner or an experienced practitioner (or even if you don't study ninjutsu). I think it would help someone who does't quite know what the art of ninjutsu comprises of to get a flavour of what we learn before they decide to start taking lessons. I found it a lot easier to understand than some of Hatsumi's books (they are also excellent though). It is a brilliant reference book to look at after a training session. Its excellently priced and has lots of information! Definitely a very good buy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent introduction, March 18, 2009
This review is from: Ninjutsu: The Secret Art of the Ninja (Paperback)
Having been involved in a few martial arts for most of my life and then finally graduating to ninjitsu this would be the best introductory book that Ive read by far.
Its clear and concise with excellent photography and explanatory text.
For those starting out I would recommend it over the grand masters books. Save those for later as you progress throught he grades.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a good book if you are looking for street effective techniques, July 3, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Ninjutsu: The Secret Art of the Ninja (Paperback)
I have practiced Taekwondo for nine years and earned my first degree black belt after the first five years of my training. As a martial arts practitioner, this book does not show any useful techniques that you would normally use in a real street fight situation. However, the introduction of the book covers the psychology behind Ninjutsu and I thought that was interesting. The rest of the book shows color photos of a Ninjutsu practitioner performing ridiculous moves. The first techniques reviewed the combat rolls, which are OK, but are impractical. There are better ways to evade strikes besides rolling. Second, one description show that you could injure someone with a pinky strike. This strike would only work on the throat. I only found one useful technique and that is it. If you are looking to understand the philosophy of Ninjutsu and the psychological aspects of fighting, then this is an exceptional book. If you are expecting practical techniques in real street fight situations, avoid buying this one. I am sure there are better Ninjutsu books out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Book, April 2, 2008
This review is from: Ninjutsu: The Secret Art of the Ninja (Paperback)
I have written this book to give readers an insight into Ninjutsu. The first half of the book concentrates on the mind body and spirit and the philosophy of the Ninja. It also details how to bring a balance to your mind and enable you to see the truth in various situations. The second half of the book covers the basic techniques of Takamatsu based Ninjutsu and is invaluable to anyone learning Ninjutsu. The last part of the book deals with pressure points and training tips and advice to those studying Ninjutsu.
