I was introduced to Pink Martini while working with a general surgeon---very eclectic tastes (I also learned about Flaming Lips, too). This is typical of Pink Martini---a woman's sultry voice, a piano, and strings. It's evocative of a dark, smoke-filled lounge and perfect for winding down after a hard day's work. Check out their other albums. If you like 1940's-infused jazz, you'll enjoy Pink Martini.

Sultry Latin Jazz,

I have no idea why they put this in the "Pop/General" category.
Think Astrud Gilberto - Sultry vocals backed with Bossa Nova/Latin Jazz orchestrations. It transports you to a scene in a1940's black and white film, set in a cafe in Rio, or Havana. You would never believe this band was formed in Portland, Oregon to play at political fundraisers! More interesting info on their website at [...] I will definitely be adding this to my "relaxing music" playlist. |
