5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome for Slime Fans! December 19, 2010

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I love Slime merchandise, so when I saw this, I just had to get it, just like the Slime controller. Before it was $50, but now its $28, so grab it if you want a unique (squishy) portable speaker. :)

Mr. slime himself is very squishy, so it's nice to rest your hands on him while playing. :D The stand can be adjusted in many ways, and it fits my DSlite with a protector case very snuggly, BUT keep in mind that it doesn't completely "latch" onto your DS, so if you shake it a lot it could jig out but that'll never happen unless you're playing your DS like a madwo/man. The hinges can be adjusted to fit various DSs (the box claims that it can fit a DSi and DSiXL).

For the speaker itself, the sound quality is pretty good and the cable has a lot of slack, so you don't have to play on the stand if you want, and you can even use it with a PSP/iPod/Laptop/etc! There's even a little slot on the back of the stand neck to hold the cable tight.

I highly recommend this to anyone who loves Slime stuff or anyone who just wants a really cool speaker. I mean, who wouldn't want a Slime staring at them with that big smile? :]

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a slime!!!!!!! April 6, 2011

In addition to the other reviews, you should know this:

- This slime is big. For some reason I was expecting something the size of a Beanie Baby. It's wider than my DS lite, meaning it's big enough to hug!
-The battery compartment is easy access and is underneath the slime.
- The 3.5 mm cable is easily retractable with a slight pull.
- Some areas of the slime are more squishy than others.
- The packaging is gorgeous. The thin plastic packaging is slime-shaped, which makes me want to save the box forever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great squishy stand to rest your arm September 28, 2010
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I bought this item with the Dragon Quest IX software from Amazon.com.
As you can tell from the product picture, this is a recommended/must have item
for all Dragon quest fans.
The product itself is squishy (not like the PS2 slime controller HORI released before) and has two speakers inside the cheek part of the slime.
The sound quality is very well for $39.99 item.

I usually use this product when I play my DS on the couch in living room.

As described on the product description, this item is compatible for DS lite and DSi system, which most people should've owned compare to DSi XL.
And another great part is that the speaker functionality can be used for any
portable system, ipod, and other MP3 player that has an earphone jack (3.5mm).

Great buy!

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
WOW, this product is AMAZING!!! It supports all DS families(reg. ds, ds lite, dsi, and dsi XL). Has a firm yet soft feel to it. Before I bought this I probably would have wanted to know how the little guy actually felt. Amazing handrest!! I would recommend this to all Dragon Quest fans and really ANY gamer! Overall, this is the best(and most squishy) DS acessory that I have ever owned and hopefully that you will ever own(if you buy it of course)!

3.0 out of 5 stars Super cute! February 25, 2011

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
I bought this speaker for my daughter's 8th birthday. The color is the same as her DSi, so that was a bonus. Overall, it is really super cute! It's much larger than I expected. She can rest her hands on it with ease, although she mostly uses it for the speaker. On that front, it's OK. The sound quality is ceratinly better than the DSi's speaker, but I had expected a louder, clearer range. In the end, she's please with it, and that's what matters most.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not Just For Collectors February 8, 2011

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This little guy is adorable, and actually works quite well! The sound-quality of the built-in speaker is clear and the DSi rest hold the DSi in place, just as it boasts it does. The plush/squishy exterior of the slime is perfect for resting your hands while playing at the table or at your desk. A must for any Dragon Quest fan, and great for kids, too. I plan on getting a few more as gifts for a few friends who also love this series. Thanks, Hori!

5.0 out of 5 stars So Very Cute June 14, 2011
By B.L.
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
My nephew (age 7) happened to be visiting on the day that this arrived, and before he even knew what it was he was making an unsuccessful effort to convince me that I should give it to him. I did let him use it to play with his DS for a couple of hours and he said he liked it a lot and moved on to trying to convince me and his grandmother that he absolutely must have one for his next birthday.

The slime itself has a pleasingly squishy texture that feels like it's probably some kind of foam. The sound quality is very good for a speaker of its size and type.

While the package doesn't say anything specific about compatibility with the 3DS, we found that both my DS Lite and my nephew's 3DS fit into the little tray with no problems.

I've also used it a couple of times as a holder and speaker for an iPhone.

It would have been really nice to have the option of using an AC adapter rather than batteries. You also have to be careful to remember to turn it off, because the switch (and the light indicating power) is on the back where it won't be directly in your sight, so it's very easy to shut the DS case and walk away and forget to turn it off.

If you think it's going to see much use, it'd probably be a good idea to get batteries you can recharge (4 AA) so that you don't have to feel too bad if you leave it on and drain them.

It's sort of silly and definitely not something anyone needs to have, but it's really cute and it's fun to have it around and use it. I wonder a little if that cheery smile on the slime's face might start to look more like a smirk if a particularly diabolical game kills me enough times, but at least if I throw it at a wall in frustration the foam might protect the electronic bits!
